They always do during the beta rollouts. Gmail and Wave were both the same way initially. Obviously one was sucessful, one not so.

The thing is, like Microsoft's "spaces", this is just going to be omnipresent. By which i mean, used just because it's there, especially if people use Android or ChromeOS. The thing is, Google's in no rush to make this all work... it doesn't need to convert users overnight. If it's better, it should ultimately win out.

Hell, it might even integrate with Facebook to some degree. (see, for example, the way that MS's social stuff can list updates from Facebook).

Microsoft owns a small percentage of Facebook though so that probably explains their integration.

I think I remember reading somewhere recently that google wouldn't be doing any facebook integration until it became more of a two way process. Currently facebook take a lot more than they share.

it looks nice so far, it has the best bits of facebook and twitter,

and i like the animation touches on the circles and adding people.

This has got real potential.

They can learn from Facebooks expansion and can build from the ground up whereas Facebook has had to solve problems by papering over cracks to solve some problems. Mobile phone integration will be vital too.

Needless to say the problem will be converting people. It'll only work if all your friends are on it after all. You get the feeling people are bored of Facebook but that might mean they're not ready to jump ship to something that is very similar but better. They might need to be bored for longer.

Fifth request for an invite if possible

It looks quite interesting, and I think people could start migrating over to Google Plus like what happened with Myspace and Facebook, just because of the boredom factor of the same old site and the excitement of something new. I was quite late in switching over from Myspace, so I want to get in on this early in case it takes off.

IF it is a protracted beta signup process then ppl will get strawberry floated off with not getting an invite = failure. It's not the same as Gmail.

not sure which one worked in the end.. they were all buggy, so if any of you have the same problem... click the "Learn more about Google+" orange button in your email which seems to take you to the account page.

apologies for the multiple messages people will get off me... im adding you all to a GRcade circle and re-posting to it. if you get sick of the emails you can stop them in settings

but this is the easiest way as to invite people you have to make a post with that the circle the people who are to be invited in

Just got in (thank you very much!) and, well it's a bit useless at the moment because it's so empty. Has potential though.
