Does anyone know of any book sellers that ship abroad?

If I was in the UK, I'd be buying a paper copy, as I much prefer them and having a physical library. I don't really like buying kindle books that I don't already own in physical form. I've actually shelled out twice for books that way.

But if I can find somewhere that ships it here, I'd do that rather than use Irene's links.

Or a foreign English book seller would do.

EDIT - Actually, I've found it on Amazon.jp which I really didn't expect. Will take 1-3 weeks to arrive though, so if anyone knows anywhere quicker I'd just cancel and get it there.

Do you have a tablet or something as the epub link that got posted will work on most tablets.

Yeah I have a Kindle but would much prefer to have them physically if there's a way (going to be a pain shipping them all back though as I've accrued quite a few whilst here).

Actually, if people/Rocsteady don't mind, I'd do a job lot of half a dozen or so books to save the postage costs and save me having to search around for a copy each month? So if people have their choice set in stone I'd buy them for the future now.

If I can't get my hands on them physically, I'd just use Irene's link.

I mainly use my kindle with Project Gutenberg to get classics on there electronically (I own a fuckton due to my degree and splurging on them to build up a sort of classics library). I mainly use it for flights and journeys when carrying something like Bleak House or Moby Dick is heavy and cumbersome.

I've got the file in .mobi format if you can bear reading it on your kindle but if you don't mind the expense and hassle of getting the physical copies over I can easily run the random generator a bunch of times so we have an order for the books for the next few months and PM you with it.

Think it's better if I don't publish it, makes it more interesting if we see them as we come imo.

Enjoying this book so far although I've not had the time to properly get into it yet, author's got some nice turns of phrases to flesh out the surroundings and the plot's hopefully going to start taking off soon. Only about a tenth through.

So I've bought the book as well - should of turned up today but hopefully will be able to dive in tomorrow.

Have I missed the plan for how we are meant to read this?

Pretty much. I really don't know what timetable we should be aiming for, is end of next week - so a fortnight - enough for such a short book?

We could do with people "checking up in" when they have it.

Maybe a timetable needs to be

Announce book
2 weeks to grab it
Next book announced, 2 weeks to read previous and same two weeks to buy next one.

Means we are on a 2 week cycle of books and there is loads of time to get the next one

Given that we have several readers abroad, a bit of extra time built in to accommodate book acquisition might well be a good thing. The two week lag seems like a good idea, but it means we'll need to pick the next book soon, and maybe give three weeks to read this one?

Yeah i would say another week to are this next one is announced and the start of the 2 week read time starts, that way we have 3 weeks to get this and read it ready for starting book 2 and announcing book 3

What are the rules around sharing our thoughts? If we say we are giving 2 weeks to read each book how about we implement a rule saying week 1 is for discussion of events up to the mid point of the book (or agreed chapter) with week 2 being for discussions of the completed book? I feel this would be a way to minimise books being spoiled.

I think this is a good idea.

So for this book we have loads of time to finish it, until the 18th. I'll post up the second book in a couple of days to give people plenty of time to acquire it. I'll be posting links for each book if you can stomach electronic versions.

I think it's a much better idea to simply spoiler box discussions on ongoing books, perhaps roughly in the stye of:

Chapter 1:
What a surprise that there's a dead guy floating in the air!

Simply because I don't think we should be really rigid with forcing people to read a section a day or every 3 days or whatever. People are sometimes busy for days and I don't want folk to fall behind because they have to wait until a Sunday or whenever to read the book.

Yeah, spoiler boxes exist for a reason ;) Just put like a chapter or page number/percentage completion so people can make sure they don't open anything too far ahead of them.

I'm still really enjoying this book although I've been incredibly tired this week and only reading it before bed so sometimes find it hard to concentrate: I'm on chapter 16 and only just realised

That there's two characters the story is following  :fp:

hahah you tit.

I'm really enjoying it I'm about half way through so far and is really interesting follow the two stories.

I quite like that both sides are trying to improve their lives by taking grasp of an opportunity one of which seems like it may turn out to be somewhat legally dubious but in a bad situation you can't risk to not take the chance i guess.

Can I join? Not sure how good I'll be at keeping up, as I'm a really slow reader, and I mean really slow. I'll have book 1 tomorrow and I'll try to get it read by the 18th.

Luckily the books are only up to 300 pages so should help if you are a slow reader :D

I was thinking, might it be an idea to post a number of books in advance to help people attain copies should they be international/not in a steady living place? I'm mainly thinking of myself here, over the next few months I'll be bouncing between a few places around Europe for various jobs, and it'd be ideal for me if I could secure copies ahead of time which I can read while I'm away.
