I enjoy both equally. Halloween for reasons described in the other thread, Guy Fawkes Night as we always have a slap up meal at the in-laws, then some firework for the kids. Plus I get to see my nephews who I always have a laugh with.

It's called bonfire night, terrible poll

Bonfire night is also the best because bonfires are most excellent and the smell of gunpowder is very desirable

Halloween for me. Good excuse for a different sort of party/night out or an evening in with a classic horror film. Or even an away cup game against a Premier League team :shifty:.

Can't stand the conspiracy theory gimps who take the opportunity to push yawnsome anti-state wokeness on the rest of us around bonfire night. Also fireworks are mostly gooseberry fool and I always end up thinking the whole thing would just hurry up and get out of the way so that we can start doing Christmas properly.

I have never celebrated Thanksgiving in my life.

The fact that we still haven't developed fireworks like this continues to depress me:

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder treason and plot.
We see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!

Guy Fawkes, guy, t'was his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow.

By god's mercy he was catch'd
With a darkened lantern and burning match.
So, holler boys, holler boys, Let the bells ring.
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the king.

And what shall we do with him?
Burn him!

We do have them, the government developed them with the aid of alien travellers. But the secret government will not let us have them as they think it'll expose the alien technology that they have.

I was probably leaning more towards Halloween but then I received this email

Hello Everyone,

As it is Halloween next week we have decided to do something different this year.

On Wednesday 31st October we will be holding a fancy dress competition.

Best dress will win a £20 Cabot Circus voucher.
Worst dress will win a spooky prize.

:dread:

Guy Fawkes all the way, nobody makes me dress up for that.

You'd need to give me more than £20 to get me to Cabot Circus :dread:

The dressing up aspect is probably one of the most annoying parts of Halloween.

Bonfire Night because fireworks and bonfires are awesome. "Oooh but it leaves my poor little doggo puppers terrified  " Couldn't give a strawberry float about your pets, sorry.

Halloween is just an Americanised nonsense now.

My cat doesn’t give a strawberry float about fireworks
Sits and watches then through window

(Bet he’d be a nervous wreck outside. Little coward  )

Setting things on fire with big explosions wins over "getting drunk lol" every time.
