Half a lap, half a lap in Forza before I just loaded up the standard AC and jumped into the ND MX-5 on that and it’s laughable that a game from 2014, that could be played on the base Xbox One, has far superior handling in the exact same car, especially a standard road car. I could understand some of the higher performance race cars being made easier to drive in a simcade (though, as part of the car pass I have been gifted the Aston Martin Valkyrie and it’s ridiculous, you can’t feel a thing the car is doing
) but for a road car, the physics should be spot on in my opinion. Constant oversteer in an MX-5 as well
I then jumped in the SF70-H and had a few laps round the Ring in that

If you're going to talk about ground up development, coming out with something that's just alright isn't good enough when there's other racers to pick from already.
The online racing in C class has been excellent so far. I'd read loads that the Porsche cup is one of the best series to go in due to the large player count and high standards of driving. It's all been very respectful and how you'd want to race people. Seeing someone gain on you in your rear mirrors but then ease off to sit back and wait for a suitable passing point is so good, as in the rookie tiers you wouldn't get that, it's just gain gain nose alongside no matter what and then accident.
If someone is being held up by me and I'm failing to make ground on the car ahead, I tend to let the catching car go. You can then follow that car and get a bit of tow, plus there's a good chance they'll pressure the car I was trying to get and one of them will make a mistake. Happened a few times, I let someone go and they both then went off gaining me those two places. You can only do that sort of thing when everyone behaves and races properly.
Part of me would love to spend some time with the more "sim" racing games, but I fear that my own lack of experience with real life driving and my general preference for more arcade style racing would put me in a tricky place. I find it really hard to get away from the more "bashy bashy" behaviour that arcade racers allow.
Hell I remember playing Driveclub with you guys here and even when I was actively trying to be more aware of how I drove and not barging people out of the way I still would get in peoples way. Pretty sure there's a clip of Chalky (Though it might be someone else) getting grumpy after a crash I caused somewhere.
But I think getting my wheel set back up and actively trying something more sim-like might be worth a try. Just hard finding games that natively support my wheel these days. Got one of those Hori Racing Wheel Apex things about 8 years ago and most stuff doesn't like it.
I did play Daytona throught the Model2 Emulator with it. Used it for one of those ARcade Attacks videos I did for the GRcade YT channel. That was glorious fun.
I think for me you've got to enjoy the process of a racing game kicking your arse, and overcoming that being fun for you. Sounds like you'd be interested in trying it out, so maybe look at some less demanding games that will run on your pc and will then be compatible with your wheel.
I remember your arcade attacks Daytona special
My Mrs is trying to get me to get in to streaming my races after seeing people have made a living out of it. Can you imagine me on camera
HEY WHAT'S UP GUYS!!!!

Standard AC could be a good place to start a racing journey, old game so could support the old wheel? Massive modding community around it as well if you did get into it.
