Keep hearing how good the ring is on ACC, it's using a scan from some point in 2023, so very up to date.

Sweet, let us know how you get on with it! Laser scanned tracks really are impressive, and it's easy to take it for.grsnted how accurate they are. I saw some track, probably the ring, on YouTube recently and it was just identical to how I've been playing it, even down to the car rocking over bumps in certain places. Amazing really.

I've been faffing with my setup again :fp: Currently making a handbrake mod out of the spare clutch pedal from my Pro pedals. I'll post a picture when it's done.

Won’t be able to post a full lap of the ring sadly  I’m probably going to crash so much in the first few laps :fp:

One thing I can say already, it’ll be night and day between ACC’s ring compared to Forza’s!

Think this might be the most crazy mod I've ever seen for a Playseat Challenge  It does what it sets out to while only losing a little of the foldability aspect, dread to think how many hours the person who designed this spent on it though, looks like a very well put together mod.

What the strawberry float

10/10 for ingenuity, but at that point you're better off making a full thing out of aluminium profile, then having quick release hinges at key points. Put castors at the back and you could tip it up and wheel it away in the same fashion.

I did my handbrake mod today as the part arrived earlier than expected. It'd the discarded clutch from my pro pedal set, with an aftermarket real car shifter modified and attached. Had a few goes in wrc and it's excellent. Full analogue hand brake! Cost me £10 to make, and as its 90% a logi part, it matches the rest of the setup. Great stuff.

Excuse the cable management or lack of at the moment:

It does look bonkers doesn’t it  spent the whole video thinking fair play to the person who designed and 3D printed it all, but at that stage of spending nearly £400-450 on a modded Playseat Challenge, you may as well just wait till you can have a wheel permanently set up really.

Handbrake looks very good!

Is it that much?! I skimmed over the video.

Yes in that case, buy a proper seat thing!

Well, it’s around £200 for the seat and then the mod is a further £200-250 according to the video, for 1% of people with a Playseat who want the rigidity of something more permanent but still need the folding aspect, I can see why they’d go for this, I am not in that 1%, only thing I’d want to change is to make the pedal mount feel more sturdy, I just know those plastic clips and screws will break at some point, maybe some sort of brace for the wheel mount if you want to go above the 10nm level, from what I’ve read it’s fine as is with a Fanatec CSL DD.

I've been levelling up my roookie licences on iracing recently, and am working on the dirt off road one. Decided to have a race after a bit of time trial practice on the daytona rally cross track, and it was such great fun! That driving style goes against all my smooth road racing instincts so I wasn't on the race of the main leaders, but I was hanging on enough that I could still see them at the end. Great fun.

I went from rookie to D licence in that last night, which is then in the realms of paid content on and off, so I'll probably go to oval racing next, as the rookie race I had in that a few weeks back was also great fun.

Nordschleife DLC bought, just waiting for it to update/download and then I’ll be driving out :toot:

Might do a couple of laps in the BMW M2 before jumping into the Aston GT4 for a bit, I’ll just bin it if I go straight into the GT3 Aston

Still enjoying the rain in iRacing? I’d no idea just how many disciplines it had to be honest, thought it was mainly open wheel/LMP/GT cars.

Edit. Or not with ACC, honestly it’s astonishing how often a console update breaks some part of the game, can’t even launch it on the Xbox, updated but says it still needs an update :fp:

Came in to ask how you got on and saw your edit :fp: :fp: :fp:

Rain racing is great, but I need more practice before racing against Real people with it. One aggressive braking move and you lock up and smash in to a barrier. It's great fun driving off line and finding grip like senna at Donnington.

Apparently there is a bit of a fix you can do, by setting the Xbox to offline mode it should let you run the game, so I'll be trying that when I get a chance in an hour or two, fingers crossed it works and lets me at least put a few laps onto the board! Its a ridiculous situation to be in though, one thing that the 'update' means you can't play it normally, but it's another to completely ignore the issue, I've no idea if it's on MS's side or whoever actually does the console port (I know 505 publish it, but no idea if they port it? I don't think they do), but so far there is nothing acknowledging the issue on social media

Going offline does actually work, will load the ring up now :toot:

No idea what the actual issue is then?

Edit, two laps in (neither clean mind  ) and its brilliant  Such a rollercoaster of a lap, every time you drive it (except on the latest Forza), you're reminded of why sim racers enjoy it so much. The track feels amazing, some of the kerbs you can use, some are there to throw the car off, unlike Forza where it's all so flat.

It really is strawberry floating brilliant. Constantly in fear of binning it, and when you're at full speed especially in the final section, it's a question of how hard you dare to push.

Not very  I have no idea if it has a name, and I can't remember the corner number, but there is one corner in the final 1/3 of the lap that catches me out constantly, its a rising, slightly blind left hander that just surprises me constantly, so I just understeer off :fp: into the GT3 Aston now, just little off the pace mind :shifty:

The QR code for AC Evo is still in the console release, so hopefully that means it will be coming to console at some point, very much doubt it'll be 2024 though.

Where’s the afternoon gone

Ended up trying another couple of cars after the Aston, the 2023 Porsche and McLaren feel so much more alive around the Nordschleife than the Aston does sadly, not sure how the custom BOP changes thing on PC, but with so many corners even the little bit of understeer adds up with the Aston, Aston still sounds the best though :datass:

I will say, I didn’t do many clean laps  certainly not anything remotely quick, how the hell people do low 8 mins in qualy and then race in the low 8:10s, I don’t know

Edit, they’ve released a fix for it thankfully, although it requires reinstalling the game, just as well it’s not a big install, fingers crossed it fixes it, already eager to jump back in the McLaren and get some more laps in.

I'm tempted to get a Nascar game for my PS4. Is Nascar Heat 4 any good or any recommendations?

EDIT: This was a decent watch. Takes a good look at the technical sides of the PS1/PS2 games and compares them to their contemporaries.

The last segment he compares the Nurburgring between four different games of the time.
