I have a wheel for PC, (I think it might be compatible with the PS4) but it's quite old and last time used it I got the impression it's on its way out. Felt very lose.

Anyway, yep I may have to swallow my pride and get some of those assists on I reckon. The game should be fun, not frustrating. Haven't gamed much this week due to head cold, so not been in the mood. Coming out the other side of it now so will fire up PCars 2 tonight.

Had a quick couple of races last night (still a bit under the weather myself). Bit the bullet and pushed TC to high, ABS low (refuse to use steering and breaking assists). Also found ramping up the force feedback to 100% made my response times better when dealing with under/oversteer.

The result? Much better. Yeah I don't like having the assists on, but I don't plan on buying a new wheel for the PS4 and I want to enjoy my game using a standard control pad. I'll put some more Videos up at some point.

I have been having frustrating times with the AI timing bugs. If you do a practice or quali session, though it appears worse in practice, and put in a mental time its pretty pointless. If you dare to skip to end of session it simulates times for the AI, usually just making them faster and faster every lap until they are above world record pace.

Happens every time in practice, Ive seen it catch me out once so far in quali. Yesterday I ran a quali time and then actually sat for 5 mins and waited for the session to finish so I didnt lose my time. PC1 had an option to fast forward the sessions rather than skip to end and that seemed to prevent the bug, but from what I can see that option has been removed.

I've also noticed AI qualifying times always come out on top, putting you at the rear if the grid, if you skip to the end of the session regardless if your last lap time was awesome.

Come race day, though, even at 70% AI or above your opponents suddenly have a hard time performing quite as well.

Here's a question; does pcars 2 on ps4 support the ds4's motion controls like driveclub? I've been playing forza motorsport 4 on the 360 with the wireless speed wheel (it was a fiver in game a while ago so thought i'd give it a shot) and its an acceptable step up from a pad for a casual like me:

I'd like MS to make an xbone equivalent but that seems unlikely; either that or get the xbone pro controller and use the buttons underneath for gear shifting, which i find hard to do on a normal pad while trying to steer and win at the same time #autotransmissionpleb.

Someone has written a profile for the cronusmax controller adapter thing so you technically could use it on other platforms, but the xbone's ffb triggers are just too good.

At least they've acknowledged it I guess.

Its unfortunate because it kind of makes me not want to play it anymore..? Now I know they have acknowledged it I sort of feel pointless in progressing with my career mode, but I was having fun with it bar this niggle.

Hmm, not sure about DS4 motion controls. I might have a look tonight.

As for gear shifting I shifted the buttons to square for up a gear and triangle down a gear. Using the shoulder buttons just didn't work for me.

Hasn't hampered by enjoyment, but yes hopefully it'll be sorted because as it stands you may as well skip qualifying altogether and race from the back of the grid.

For me I enjoy the time trial aspects of the practice and quali as much as the races. I race with the ai quite high, 80 I think, so I like to trade times with them before the race. To sweat your fingers off putting in a pole screamer and have it put you at the back of the grid by a minute sucks a bit. Also some series issue bonus points for quali times.

I too enjoy qualifying in all games like that for the time trial aspect. It's also great if you screw up enough to not put a proper lap together and your last timed lap is either do or die, then you strawberry floating nail it and go from last to pole.

Hell yeah, exactly.

First for me last night. Trying the 911 GTE on the Nurburgring, just seeing how it feels, and the radio man buzzes me that Im letting it get a bit warm and maybe short shift a bit. Im no bitch so I pressed on and he buzzes me again saying please son dont mess my car up. I short shift a bit now and then I see smoke, Im driving pretty slowly now and the mummy strawberry floater straight up explodes.

2/3 around the lap and I blew the damn car up.

Why let me rev that bitch to 9k if shes gonna get all menstrual about it?

I'm curious to try the livery editor, but i doubt they'll have the image uploading stuff active for it. After forza's fall from grace i'm more curious about this.

GT Sport car list revealed. And it's somewhat disappointing.

I'm coming round to the idea of a smaller car list - I've often thought about this and how certainly GT6 could have lost at least half of its roster with little to no impact on the experience. Likewise with Forza there are a good number of cars like the hummer and transit van which are never going to get used outside of their own race series or for a joke online. They've definitely said about expanding the roster after launch, which combined with a confirmation of no micro-transactions means I am getting over my earlier misgivings and am more prepared to give it a chance.

150+ cars is still a considerable number, even though a few makes are repeated across race divisions are there are a lot of the vision gran turismo concept cars. I certainly found myself in forza horizon 3 just acquiring cars and not really paying much attention to them, either to understand how they drove or getting to "know" them; they were a tool to complete a division of races and not much more.

I'm playing forza 5 at the moment to get through it and make the most of all the dlc i bought, and i'm only using one or two cars per division. I think it depends on what the goal and focus of the game is; forza has positioned itself as a car encyclopedia, which GT is now actively moving away from, and as mentioned in their weird self-deprecating promo:

I freely admit to dumping on gt sport in the recent past, but I think the fiasco around forza 7's lootboxes and 700+ car roster has perhaps pushed me away from it and towards something different.

It's not so much the smaller list, but the lack of variety.

I will get GT in the new year, but for now PCars 2 is where it's at for me at this time.

As i expected would happen, Forza 5 has been end-of-lifed as of september 30th, meaning the dlc is now unavailable to buy; hence being on games with gold and heavily discounted recently.

I'm currently going through it to at least complete the core set of each series and maybe trying to gold everything afterwards and it has been an interesting experience which has made me think about car numbers (and track numbers; forza 5 has a pretty small selection which you really feel in terms of repetition) and what that means for singleplayer content and what gt sport may be doing differently.

In previous GT and now current forza games, the collectathon huge-roster titles, your level of interaction with said roster is on a bell curve; you start out with limited credits and so can only access a small number of cars to compete in the opening events but soon that balloons as the cash flows in and the events open up. However once you completely finish a series, i've golded all the events in FM5's trucks/vans series for example, there is no reason from a singleplayer perspective to race any of those vehicles again outside of hotlapping or asynchronous rivals modes as there is no more pre-determined 'progress' to make. This cognitive shrinking effect on the car roster is only going to continue as I go, as more divisions are ticked off.

I know that racing games require you to make your own fun a lot of the time, but i can see why gt sport has taken such a turn, trying to do things differently to its previous and forza's current collectathon model by having a smaller focus on a selection of racing series and focus on competition and improving driving ability than doing x races in a certain series to tick it off a list. I like both approaches for different reasons and, combined with their interesting approach to livery design which i'd like to know more about, is probably why i'm increasingly drawn to gt sport as i can get the forza 'experience' from 4, 5 and 6 which i already have.

Also strawberry float lootboxes.
