Might be time to graduate to Sport mode too, for the real racing. Rolling starts there are less common (I used to think it had none but the last race I did had one).

I'm not ready for the step up yet, I still need the racing line and brake zone markers on the track

I did just complete the Ferrari Circuit Challenge menu series and it was easily the most exhilarating series of races, really felt like I was in the zone. Helped that I was driving the amazing 458 Italia Gr.4, holy smokes what a car :datass:

Tomorrow’s update brings the VR support, but *also*, new cars, a new track, and a limited event to try out their new super-AI (the one from Sony’s new Machine-Learning department).

https://blog.playstation.com/2023/02/20 ... _id=375888

GT Planet got to try the AI stuff early and they love it.

It was fantastic; it was the type of race you might experience only once in an online lobby, and certainly not a battle you would ever have with the game's standard artificial intelligence.

That's what makes Sophy so special: it's like having your best human rival, online, all the time, ready to race whenever you are, for however long you want. That is seriously fun, and there has perhaps never been — in video games nor the real world — a better way to practice your race craft.

That sounds great. I was playing some ACC yesterday and I decided to have a race rather than just hot lap like usual and I'd forgotten how great the A.I. is. It's really like racing real people.

Is cool that Grand Valley is being added to the tracklist again another classic original track and it does look good with its modern day revamp.

That AI does sound very promising, will it eventually get rolled out to the standard game? Like Ad said, ACC’s AI is great too, well it has been the few times I’ve raced them anyway.

The level of detail never fails to impress.

I'm currently struggling massively with the GR.1 Prototype Series menu book - first of all I'm struggling to find the right car. Secondly I'm struggling with timing my pit stop to change tyres and refuel, thirdly my pit stops seem to take about 40 seconds which just kills any progress I've made climbing up the pack, fourthly I seem to get a 6-second penalty every time I leave the pits because I'm crossing the pit line on exit even though I can't even see what I'm doing wrong. It's infuriating :x

If I remember correctly. You can alter the fuel to make you to go further than the rest. A lot of strategy involved.

Low fuel mix for most of the stint, drive conservatively but quickly. When the other cars start to pit, put the fuel mix up and push for a couple of laps so you gain time while they're stationary. On your in lap push like strawberry float and use all the tyre life.

Back in VR last night, first time doing proper events rather than just testing it out.

I think I’m fully done with non-VR racers now. I was doing the longer events and didn’t feel any of the VR fatigue I’ve had in the past with my Oculus. I could have played for hours and hours had I not had to do something else. Forgetting about the immersion aspect, my own driving ability is just so enhanced by the stereoscopy and surround view. The only time I ever really go off anymore is if I literally couldn’t see the corner and forgot the track layout. And I’m much better at avoiding collisions.

I am a little slower though. Can’t help that, I’m just not brave enough yet. It’ll come with practice. But I am genuinely considering a full sim rig now. I still don’t really rate VR as a medium overall. But as a racing accessory I’d say it’s as essential as a wheel.

There's no go in back to monitor/tv based racing games once you've had a go in VR.

I've just spent 2 hours straight hot lapping Monza in ACC. Glorious

Being quick at racing games mainly all comes with practice, which is why I’m nowhere near as quick as I used to be, I just don’t play them anywhere near as much as I used to anymore.

Saying that, if they ever officially support a 3rd party or make their own VR for the Xbox, I’ll be there day 1. Will it happen? No idea

Well, I had played F1 on the Oculus CV1 before but it felt like I was losing a lot. That headset had such a bad screen door effect and the having the sensors on the desk along with the FF wheel was a recipe for disaster.

I think if this year’s F1 game has PSVR2 support I’ll buy it and if it doesn’t I won’t. Ideally, Sony or some modder would produce PC drivers and I could play it as part of the EA Play Pro sub I already have, but I don’t think I’ll be playing it at all if that’s not the case.

I had it in my head F1 22 already had PSVR support, obviously not. No reason F1 23 shouldn’t get it really if GT7 has now got it really? Well unless Codemasters continue to put out the bare minimum upgrade each year.

F1 22 has VR on PC. It's pretty good, but it's an f1 game so crap to play.

I’ve got such a love/hate relationship with the F1 games, I just wish they’d give another developer a go with the license, with Codies being given the WRC license they’re clearly happy to stick with Codies/EA though which doesn’t inspire confidence really, think I’m going to move back to 2020 for the few times I get the F1 itch, classic cars and a handling model that isn’t god awful.

Is the ability to change your fuel mix tied to the difficulty setting you're on? I don't seem to have the ability to change it during races (or pre-race for that matter) and I'm wondering if it's because I'm playing on baby easy mode
