By livery editor i meant the decal uploader - you can upload anything as long as its a .svg file no bigger than 15kb. I might have to chop some bigger designs down into chunks even after using tools like svgomg to reduce them in size.
I'm using a Logitech G29 steering wheel to play this, and it's just outstanding. It's amazing the difference it makes. If you have familiarity with a car, I think everything becomes a lot easier in terms of lap times and general control; so satisfying. Stupidly I'v waited decades to play a car game like this, but the set-up has always been rather cost prohibitive for me until now.
I'm using the motion steering on the controller as i have neither the space nor money for a wheel, its definitely a step up from the left stick and costs nothing extra.
I'm really enjoying this. Taking the time to learn the track, qualifying with a decent time, tinkering with the car setup, doing the warm-up and then having someone called Baz smash into the back of you full speed on the first corner.
I've just ordered the bits to make an adapter and get my Driving Force GT wheel working on PS4. Obscene they decided the most popular wheel from last gen wouldn't be supported but this should get it working again.
The trick to precise steering using the stick is to go around the outer edge, instead of across the middle (so, pushing the stick forward to not steer). The Y-axis makes no difference, so you get much finer control of how much left/right you're applying by using the full arc of the circle.
I'd much rather be using a wheel, but setting one up in a way that makes sense (wheel at arm's length, shifter by the left knee, pedals angled) where: a) it's all sturdy enough to not topple over when you apply force b) it won't slide around on a wooden floor
Requires so much bulky shite in your living room it's impossible to achieve if you ever want to have sex again.
I admit my requirements are much stricter than the average player, but, like with VR, I don't think something that feels "a bit like" what you're going for is good enough.
Folds away nicely and I just bung it under the stairs. As a laugh, I did try it with an ironing board and to be fair it works almost as well (if you can get away from how utterly ridiculous you look).

Hmm, I must admit, I didn't think there was a middle ground between the "glorified TV dinner tray" type of the Wheelstand Pros and the full cockpit setups that offered a decent shifter mount. How prone is it to sliding? You think I'd be able to move it putting the boot down, even with the rubber pads?

I had a wheel and gt omega stand but the faff of storing it and setting it up put me right off. Give the ds4 motion steering a try; its nowhere near using a proper wheel but its a step up from using a stick. Plus the plastic bracket things for holding the pad more like a wheel are only a few pounds.
That one in particular is a pretty hefty 12kg, so it shouldn't be prone to moving too much, especially with your feet on the pedals as well. It doesn't move at all on my carpet but I haven't tested it in the rooms with a wooden floor. You've got the clamps from the wheel itself, but for extra stability you can bolt everything onto the metal plates. It's just shy of 60cm in length (adjustable), 46 wide.
What I like about it though is that it hasn't got the bar going down the middle, which many seem to have getting in the way of the peddles. It is expensive however at £110 (which they've now increased to £119) - making it in my case almost the same price as I paid for the wheel itself.
There are a plethora of optional assists to make driving more straightforward, and think of the customisation/photography you could do if the actual racing isn't your thing (i already made a GR decal remember...)

Good time to get GT Sport with the new update out now haven't tried online yet but there is a fair bit of single player stuff to do now
Those graphics look sensational . I do kinda prefer driving "standard" street cars but, man, that Countach looks good.
I am terrible at realistic racers but the arrival of this single-player expansion, combined with the sale price, is so tempting.
Gran turismo claims to be a SIM but it really isn't. As has been said, you can put a load of assists on and have a really good time playing it as it's very forgiving with a pad.

I checked back here to say that I'd resisted... then I saw these comments and now I'm thinking about it again . Will leave it for a while and then watch a few vids tonight...
It does look cool but, realistically, I suspect that the sim-type gameplay (even though you can turn on assists) will be too much for my driving "skills".
Will still think about it but I get the feeling I shouldn't rush into this one.
Slept on it and decided not to jump in. Stuff like Need for Speed and Mario Kart are about my limit for racing... I'm more into shells than carburetors. I'll admire the slick graphics from afar!
