I'd certainly like the option for map placement and transparency.

Yes?

How about the ability to put a map on the Vita and placing it under the TV?

Are you being serious or parodying Star Fox Zero's disastrous use of two screens at once, as I'm not sure. Having to take your eyes off the road to look at a map is a terrible idea, so I hope i'm being rused rather than that being a serious suggestion.

I was being serious and I've never played the Star Fox game.
Fair enough it's a rubbish idea but it's a way to have a map without taking up any main screen real estate.

Don't expect to be blown away by the new Gran Turismo on PS4

GT Sport gets livery editor and smart online, but old problems remain.

After a fairly long wait, we've finally got a chance to play Gran Turismo on PlayStation 4 - and it's more than a little underwhelming. Kazunori Yamauchi has said GT Sport offers a level of innovation not seen since the first Gran Turismo. Having played it for 30 minutes before today's big reveal conference, I'm not entirely sold.

Perhaps it's because we've been spoilt by the splendour of Forza Motorsport, already into its second iteration on Xbox One, or Assetto Corsa, which is about to make its console debut later this summer. Gran Turismo Sport, however, looks, sounds and plays just like Gran Turismo 6 on the Playstation 3.

I wonder if Sony looked at it and thought it wasn't quite up to scratch so for the first time ever didn't slap a number on it. Because this feels more in line with a Prologue/£25 type product at the moment. I don't understand why this wouldn't be numbered otherwise.

The tracks better have day and night cycles and weather on them if not that is a massive fail if they dont include it on all of the tracks.

The pre-order pricing on the PSN store doesn't suggest anything 'Prologue' about it, which is a little worrying if you're into GT.

Gran Turismo feels like a series that has existed inside a bubble since it began. When it first came out it was an almost entirely unique experience on consoles and it's success completely changed what people wanted in driving games going forward. The problem for Polyphony is that they still seem to be operating as if they are the only serious console racing game but that stopped being the case years ago. You can argue about Forzas merits as a driving simulation compared to GT all you want but in terms of presenting all the content in the game to the player Forza had undoubtedly overtaken GT back when Forza 2 came out. Gran Turismo 5 was a massive disappointment to me because the structure of the game was so unwelcoming. On track it was fine but until they started giving out credits like it was going out of fashion in the weekly events it was a ludicrously grind heavy game even by the standards set by previous entries in the series. Add to that the absolute dogshit interface and I don't think I was alone in giving up on 5 way sooner than I had with previous entries in the series. It just felt like a game that only came out because someone at Sony finally lost their patience waiting for the game and Polyphony just slapped on a half arsed frontend to the content they had. I didn't even bother trying out 6 as I never heard much buzz for it at launch.

thats a Ferrari 458 GT3 even though now most of GT3 Ferraris have gone too the 488 turbo models this year the graphics etc in that clip are behind the current spec cars in the various GT3 cars in current sportscar racing this year. As the cars have been upgraded to the 488 Ferrari's worldwide the graphics in that clip look like PS3 GT6 visuals

Am I one of the very few who love car games but never actually 'got on' with the GT series? I always found them dull & severely lacking excitement.

So is this a proper Gran Turismo as in you grind credits and buy/upgrade cars in a career?

I just remembered the bloody driving licences :dread: .

I can't drive in real life so how do they expect me to do a virtual racing licence?

https://www.gtplanet.net/gt-sport-will- ... r-weather/

Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed that Gran Turismo Sport will not feature dynamic time-lapsing or weather. In the interview conducted by GTPlanet, Kazunori made clear that there will be no ‘transitions’ during races and conditions will be chosen prior to entering a race. These features were two of the stand-out attributes for Polyphony’s PS3-era games, however they could only be accessed on specific tracks within the game’s track roster, which meant the level of quality each track had could vary depending on what was chosen.

This inconsistency across the titles was one of the reasons the features were dropped according to Yamauchi, citing that ‘degree of freedom’ and ‘quality’ are direct parallels to each other, where increasing one would lead to a decrease in the other. GT Sport aims to improve the proficiency of the series’ from a technical standpoint as a main focus:

“We opted to not have the transitions in the race this time in order to raise the framerate and the quality of the image *during* the race. So the user will be able to set that before they enter the race. So you’ll still be able to have night races, morning, races at dawn, dusk, and so on.”

Frame-rate and resolution are key elements to any simulation, being able to react as quickly as possible and interpret far away action allows racers to feel immersed without feeling impaired by a game’s short-comings. Frame-rate was an area some fans pointed out was not up to the standard they’d like in GT6, so although key areas that directly affect real-world racing will be omitted, the sacrifice is perhaps justifiable from a racing perspective.

The focus on more static race conditions may have allowed for an improvement players have been wanting for a long time though, as GT Sport will feature a series-first 20 car strong grid. Kazunori iterated that he expects GT Sport to ship with the 20-car grid size, commenting that whether more cars are possible is something ‘they will decide upon along the way (to release)’ and keeping a stable quality level is the most important aspect for any future improvements to the grid size.

Yet Project Cars can manage day night weather conditions on every track and with full grids
