I don’t even have the game but I’d love to see any car designs that you guys create - especially GRcade ones!

The Gran Turismo Sport Collectors Limited Edition has been reduced by £10 to £94.85 at Shopto/eBay. Still about £20 too much for me, but I would really like the book. Shame they haven't released it separately.

I'll take the thread if NickSCFC pledges to (under threat of permanent ban) never make another copy/paste, no-effort thread on this forum that he has zero intention of maintaining.

I wonder if people will be calling for polyphony to be shut down ala evolution studios at drvieclub's launch.

Does the demo progress transfer over to the disc copy as well?

As far as I can remember, all the in-game earnings from the demo carried over, but career progress did not. The full game notices that you have a save from the demo version on your PS4 and asks you if you wish to import that save into the game. So I started the full game with 2.25million in-game cash as I had bought the Deluxe Version and got 2 million as part of the bundle. The other 250,000 was my imported earnings from the demo.

Drive School is reset and you have to start all over again. No big deal. I quite like the whole business of unlocking cars.

I don't know if your online career progress from the demo (in terms of MP racing) is also imported, as I hardly did any in the demo and I wasn't paying attention to that when I imported the saved demo data. I'm sure others can clarify that point.

Tbh, I play mostly in Arcade mode against the AI and I'm having as much fun as I hoped. I get earnings, career progress and unlocks, etc, so I'm happy. I have done a few online races but they just feel empty to me and I don't win any more in online races than I do in races against the AI in Arcade mode (often more in Arcade mode, actually). I still think it's outrageous that Arcade mode is so ignored or dismissed by the majority of reviewers. It's perfectly possible to never go near online races in GT Sport and just treat the game like any other racing sim, racing against the AI in custom races, unlocking everything from within Arcade mode. The lack of clarity on this point from the gaming media has been shocking.

I mustn’t admit that, from a cursory glance over a couple of reviews, I had gotten the impression that the game was entirely online. I didn’t know that you can play in a single player mode. Does Arcade mode have challenges / tournaments?

Arcade mode is essentially the equivalent of running custom races against the AI in Project Cars 2. You can just choose a track (from those you have unlocked), your car (from those you have so far unlocked), time of day and off you go, or you can customise the race down to a granular level - seriously, there are tons of options for setting up custom races exactly how you want them in Arcade mode. When you first start the game the quickest way to unlock all the tracks is to play Arcade mode. As you race your in-game progress accrues and you will be rewarded with track unlocks, as well as other rewards such as gift cars, etc.

You are always racing against the AI in Arcade mode (unless you are racing time trials (you race your ghost)). The difference between this and Project Cars 2 is that you will earn rewards, career progress and unlocks when racing against the AI. It's exactly like the online component of the game, but without the hassle of racing idiots - and because you can micro manage your difficulty levels you can potentially earn/unlock a lot more, a lot faster.

I'm not aware that you can set up championships in Arcade mode (yet?), but that's not really the point. It's a fully-featured 'do as you want, race where you want' mode which pays you with in-game currency and unlocks. Essentially, for me, Arcade mode is the single player portion of the game, not the so-called 'Campaign mode' which is nothing more than a driving school (although it is an easy way to unlock additional cars for very little effort and for this reason is worth investing time in doing). I'm mystified why this is obfuscated by the gaming media. GT Sport has a fantastic SP game: it's called Arcade mode!

Note: the only time you don't earn rewards or progress in Arcade mode is if your game loses internet connection. You can still play Arcade mode when you do not have server connection, but your rewards and progress will not be saved. Bummer, but hardly a deal-breaker: I've had one loss of server connection (briefly) since starting the game - and that was actually during qualifying laps for an online race!

Thanks for sharing that detail, Cal - the single player aspects certainly do appear to be a bit more beefed-up than I had thought. I won’t be diving in at launch, mainly because I am more of an arcade racer than a sim fan, but I may take a second look when price reductions hit.

>qualify 5th for suzuka east, pretty confident
>immediately mess up the first corner because I can't handle the pressure/lag-induced framerate drop and end up at the back

I think right now i'll just focus on improving my safety rating - its interesting in that the experience goes against everything you're taught in most racing games; that you have to win etc to proceed, which is contrary to what happens in racing for most drivers.

I was trying to get out of C for a while, had a bad race then dropped to D, which was a zoo and pushed me immediately down to E. So 100% of my effort is now going in to climbing back out of this hole.

The harshest penalties I've been given are from rejoining the track after being pushed off in traffic. Usually about 10 seconds. I have to drill it in that my race has already been ruined at that point and let it go. I can only imagine the paradise of A and S.

I picked this up yesterday but I'm debating whether to move my TV, which is currently in my bedroom, to somewhere where I could actually use my proper steering wheel...

Are these licenses in reference to online racing, or is it how the whole deal works now. Find it quite interesting as it's how iRacing works to an extent....although the standard of driving in some of the higher classes is terrible.

Digital Foundy's Forza 7/Sport graphical comparison:

An incredible achievement from Polyphony considering the raw power disparity between the Pro and X.
