I play with all the hud and stuff off so that's probably useless for showing gearing, but you can learn some lines from it.

Brilliant, will check this out later

Yeah I don't know why that's on :dread: Its usually the first thing I turn off, especially as I have the tv cranked up and use the engine sounds to drive.

Going to be a weekend job I think

Any tips for some of the races where you have to pit, think other cars seem to be doing less pit stops which gives them a massive advantage

You need to go down the rabbit hole of managing the engine map while racing. There's lean and about 5 steps up to rich. Meant I had to put the rubbish hud on and lose half the screen :x

Anyway, the leaner it is, the less fuel it will use but the less power you will have, so you need to strike a balance between driving stupidly fast or going slow enough to potentially save a pit stop. I tend to adjust it section by section, if I'm a lot faster than the a.i. in a certain section, drop it right down to save fuel but still make progress etc. You'll find you can usually go one stop less if you use it properly. Oh and be smooth in your driving to save the tyres too so they don't wear out before you're due for your stop.

Manage the fuel, stretch out a stint and then on the lap before you plan to come in, as long as you have the fuel for it, go full rich and put in the fastest lap and in-lap you can. You'll make time on the a.i. and usually easily keep track position.

I seem to handle my tyres well. There is one challeng, 8.5 I think. Where you do 10 laps and the car in front stops once but im out of fuel by lap 4

Well I’m now only 7 seconds off gold :x

It’s my only one left of the circuits to finish.

Also only 2 more challenges to get and I have all gold there too.

Nothing worse than going into the pits and accidentally saying you don’t want fuel :fp:

Good work. That's basically nothing over that lap and you'll shave that off just by hooking up a few corners thsst you didnt take so well in the previous attempts. Don't try to make that time up - it'll only result in over driving. Instead just focus on stringing the sections together in a nice flow and the time will come.

Regarding the fuel - I can barely count (seriously, I have to count on my fingers still :fp: ) so the in lap is always a mixture of trying to do a qualifying pace blistering lap while trying to work out what half of 25 is plus a bit of fuel saving

I did one where i was catching the car 40 seconds in front. I went into the pits halfway through 1 second behind and when he went into the pits i was 11 seconds in front but than he gained and over took me and within two laps was 12 seconds in front yet my lap times hadnt changed. Don’t unstand this. Finished closer to him on my first try and my laps were a lot slower in comparison. Swear this game rubber bands AI to its own needs

Oh yeah, try not to pit at the half way point too (if you're one stopping). I always try to stretch the first stint out by a few laps compared to the A.I because you can make a lot more time up on them when they're stationary and you're still lapping. So you've got some performance/fuel & tyre wear in reserve at lap 4 of 10, they start pitting at 5 so for 5 and 6 you put the fuel mapping to full rich and do 2 full speed laps, coming in at the end of 6/start of lap 7. Bombing in to the pit lane as fast as possible while doing so. Then make sure your out lap is fast too. You'll find you'll have been in the lead for those laps usually and then come out in first because the A.I is quite conservative in the in and out step, whereas you've been flying so make time up while they're sat there not moving AND you saved pit time by needing less fuel.

can someone explain why in the longer later tracks the leader is always catchable until you over take him than he turns into the worlds best driver?

You know how you catch up the front cars over time right, well a couple of the challenges in part 8 this happens. You slowly catch them which must mean you are faster and when you get close to them and overrake the leader they remain beind you. You would think that if you kept at a constant pace and your lap times stay the same, if you caught them from behind 40 seconds you would start to gain that distance

Its almost as if a rubber banding is enabled as you pass the lead car
