GRcade 2009 Game of the Year Awards - RESULTS GET!

I love the way in the Heavy Rain chapter of L4D2, if you're using the game chat, your friends voices become night on impossible to hear when the storm picks up, meaning you have to yell over it.

The winners are...

Halo: Reach

and Mass Effect 2

2nd – Final Fantasy XIII

3rd – The Last Guardian / Super Mario Galaxy 2

The two biggest games I couldn't really give a gooseberry fool about (oh and the third in 2nd place).

You don't have to bother, it was Resident Evil 5. Well deserved, though hardly the award I would have wished for it this time last year.

For those who aren't in the know, it also won the same catagory in the Parkreiner Awards, so that's two for two in awards that matter.

It really does say a lot about the potential quality of this year when the (joint) most anticipated game is out in its first month.

No one else looking forward to Perfect Dark XBLA then.

It doesn't actually say anything about the potential quality of this year.

It says the scheduling of games has changed for this year, but thats all.

I'd actually argue that it does more to keep its identity as a game than most games of its type. Instead of QTE scenes, we have proper "interactive scenes" (for lack of a better term) where the gameplay never stops, unstead opting for gooseberry fool to kick off around us as we carry on playing.
I'd say it takes what Half-Life did and takes it even further.

Interesting point, I shall bring this up at the pub next time. He's a big Half Life fanboy.

I see what you mean, constant gameplay is far, far, FAR better than QT strawberry floating Es.

Surely, there's no way Saren can be in Mass Effect 2, he disintegrated, for strawberry float's sake.
