The GRcade 2023 Game Awards
Welcome once again to the very best video games awards ceremony in the world, the one true Game Awards, the 2023 GRcade Game of the Year Awards!
Last year we saw the Steam Deck being everyone's favourite system of the year, Vampire Survivors and Stray sharing the indie game of the year while God of War picked up the coveted Game of the Year 2022 Award, but who will win this year?
As always please vote in this thread with all or some of the categories below:
Best graphics
Best sound
Best multiplayer
Best indie game
Best console/system
Most anticipated game for 2024
Biggest Disappointment of the year
2022 GRcade Game of the Year
Award categories
• Best Graphics
This award recognises the game with the best visuals. This could encompass graphics, art style, lighting, animation, etc.
Eligible: Any game released in 2023
Previous winners:
• Best Sound
This award recognises the game with the best audio. This could encompass music, score, sound effects, sound editing, sound mixing, voice acting, etc
Eligible: Any game released in 2023
Previous winners:
• Best multiplayer
This award recognises the game with the best multiplayer (local or online). This should include the game itself, but also accessibility and ease of match-making, etc
Eligible: Any game released in 2023
Previous winners:
• Best indie game
This award recognises the best indie game that was released throughout the year; created by independent game developers, rather than those who work for large development studios or publishers like Sega and Ubisoft
Eligible: Any game released in 2023
Previous winners:
• Best console/system
This award recognises the console or gaming system that has had the best support/features and showing in 2023. Such as exclusive line-up, new system launch, services offered.
Eligible: Any console or system available
Previous winners:
• Most anticipated game
This award recognizes the game members of GRcade are most looking forward to that has not yet been released.
Eligible: Any game that has been officially announced (so still no Half-Life 3 please), but not yet released.
Previous winners:
• Biggest Disappointment of the year
Before we reach the main event and celebrate the very best of the year, how about those titles that looked so good but ended up being a big disappointment? What was your biggest disappointment in 2023?
Eligible: Any game that released this year and didn’t live up to your expectations and/or the hype leading up to it.

We've always done it until 31st Dec for voting, but happy to extend until 7th and do awards on the 13th.

Well, here is my first attempt, suspect this could well be edited towards the end of the year.
Best graphics - Metroid Prime Remastered
Best sound - Super Mario RPG
Best multiplayer - Think I've only played Pokemon Scarlet/Violet online and that has some of the worst performing online features going, so I can't vote for anything in this category with a good conscious
Best indie game - Edit, realised I had played an indie, even if I didn’t complete it! Sea of Stars and while I doubt I'll get back to finish it off, I enjoyed what I played.
Best console/system - Switch
Most anticipated game for 2024 - Easy one, Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door.
Biggest Disappointment of the year - Sadly, another easy one, Forza Motorsport, just didn't do much for me after years of building up my expectations form its announcement in 2020.
2023 GRcade Game of the Year - The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
If the Best DLC is a category then my vote would go to Xenoblade Chronicles 3, although could see the Pokemon DLC being something I personally enjoy more if the second lot of DLC is as good as it sounds before release, obviously it won't perform any better
