It will all depend on what weird and controversial system I use to pick the 10 options. ;)

With 33% of the vote, GRcade decided it loves the guillotine!

Next up, what is the best newspaper in the UK? The options were chosen from the top 10 from the latest available circulation figures (found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_newspapers_in_the_United_Kingdom_by_circulation#2010_to_present ).

Sunday newspapers have been excluded.

None of them are great they all run sensationalist stories, some worse (DM, Express) than others.

How is the poll fiddled? It's a vote to decide the best newspaper with a shortlist of the 10 most popular newspapers.

You say you've picked from the top 10, but you've included the Financial Times which is number 11.
You're fake news Moggy!

You have to include a financial newspaper for the economic geeks. Seriously Hyperion, why do you hate finances?

Considering it's free, the Evening Standard is actually better than many of the paid tabloids.

Telegraph is good, but only if you're rich and a staunch Tory. Or an actual Tory MP. Sometimes it feels more like their own in-house publication.

Financial Times is good, but only if you're rich and care deeply about business related matters.

So really it's just a toss up between The Times or the i, and in terms of being the most politically neutral of the papers I'd go with The Times. It's not perfect and prone to shenanigans just as any other paper (Murdoch secretly sitting in on the Gove/Trump interview; Hillsborough verdict being absent from the front page of the first editions, which caused uproar within the paper) but I still believe it's the best we have. Most diverse readership too. Very expensive though.

The Times for me. Unlike its sometimes unpleasant Sunday Sister it has moved into what I would consider a strongly centrist position and even as a staunch lefty liberal remoaning snowflake wet blanket I find myself in agreement with the vast majority of its columnists and their articles/opinion pieces.

It is expensive compared with other publications but the quality is there and the value for money is excellent.

I read the Times for years, but gave up on newspapers around, yeesh, ten years or so ago.

Last year though I got a weeks worth of vouchers for the 'I' and I have bought it most days since, As I think it's a really good paper. Not too big, seems pretty balanced, good mix of news and features and a crossword that is pretty easy but just hard enough to make me feel clever when I finish it.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.
