The PS2 had possibly the greatest games library in history. The thing was a phenomenon.

I never got along with PS1 or PS2. They both has a lot of games, but I didn't like the controllers and a lot of the games didn't appeal to my tastes. I was a giant Nintendo fanboy though and just could not comprehend the idea of having a console that did not have zelda on it. I was all about the multiplayer too and every 2 player multiplayer game i played on ps1 was rubbish to it's n64 alternatives. And I didn't like the idea of spending extra money just to get a plug in to play 4 player, when a lot of ps2 games didnt even support it.

In the Ps1 vs n64 the N64 wins for its better quality of top games and amazing multiplayer.

In the PS2 vs Gamecube contest I'm fanboying all over the GC. But realistically, I know just how many people loved the Ps2 and how many decent games it had that i missed out on because I was such a huge nintendo fanboy,,,,but at the same time,at the age of 13 why would I need any other console than one with Smash Bros Melee, Double Dash and Timesplitters 2 (I know this was on both) when it was all about the 4 player experience for me. When I got a little older and wanted something different I got an xbox with burnout 3 and Halo 2 and played that to gooseberry fool online. There was literally no pulling factor for the PS2 for me.

4 player in house multiplayer on my gc, and then when the mates went home you could fire up the old xbox and dick about on halo 2 until the wee hours of the morning.

Please note that this is my personal opinion and that like many others it may be different to yours!

My personal favourite console of all time is the Gamecube, but in terms of library and just how much of an impact it had on the world I've gotta vote for Gameboy (although not sure why we're not splitting by handhelds).

Especially by the time the colour came out, everyone who was anyone had one. They allowed you to play on the go and the games were fantastic for the most part.

I still find the numbers the DS did outstanding although, it's numbers were boosted by most people replacing them once the new model DS came out. For me the 3DS was impacted by the advent of tablets and mobile gaming. Some also believed that it was just the DS with a 3D screen. Not sure how many sales that impacted on though, probably very few.

I voted for the PlayStation but I could have just as comfortably gone for the Xbox 360.

I can't decide on just one greatest gaming machine. My favourites are C64, Amiga, Master System, Gameboy, Mega Drive, PlayStation, N64, Xbox, DS, Wii, Xbox 360 and PS4. I'm a little unsure about including the PS4 as it is relatively new, but I really am enjoying using it and the online aspects have been a revelation for me.

Videogaming can sometimes be " :x " but overall... videogaming  .

Edit: What the !?!? I forgot about the Wii U  :fp:  .

Between the Xbox 360, SNES or PS2.

Gonna go with the 360. The thing had an amazing library.

I am glad that everyone eventually agreed that the PS2 and Xbox360 were the greatest ever consoles. Well done guys!

Now, by popular demand, what was the greatest ever N64 game? The list is based on sales figures that can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_b ... ideo_games

Pokemon Stadium instead of, say, Blast Corps, Rogue Squadron, Perfect Dark

Donkey Kong 64 is objectively a superior game to Banjo-Kazooie and this comes from someone with a hard-on for both games. BK has so much charm but DK64 is simply immense.

My favourite N64 game is Perfect Dark.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

So much wrong. DK64 was the start of the collectothon rot (more is not always better) and had a stupid boss fight compared to BK's majesty.
