PostGRcade Decides...do you like onions?
by Moggy » Tue Mar 07, 2017 2:24 pm

This is a thread where GRcade decides who/what is the greatest ever in a variety of subjects.

First up was Prime Ministers:

Now obviously there have been a strawberry float load of Prime Ministers and so we will stick to those that were in power during our lifetimes. I know we have some golden oldies on the forum, but I am starting at the 60s which actually means we go back to 1957. If anybody was born before that, then tough gooseberry fool.

I am also not including the current Prime Minister, not because she is evil, but because it is hard to judge somebody who is still doing the job.

In my time it was definitely Blair, even though his reputation has obviously been badly tarnished. He's made his way back into my good books for trying to stop Brexit, you know, whatever that actually involves him doing, of which I've seen nothing yet.

Maggie Thatch every time, but like all long term PM's. She outstayed her welcome.

It's like voting for the STI you'd most like to get. Of the ones I remember, no to Maggie T, Major was forgettable (aside from 'Pass the peas Norma'), Blair was a breath of fresh air at first but has been tainted since, for Brown see Major, Cameron was a disaster. If I had a gun to my head then I'd probably go Blair for minimum wage, devolution, independence for the BoE and he actually did manage to reduce the gap between rich and poor for a while.

I'm a big fan of politics and have no idea who I'd vote for; I don't know enough in - depth information about the PM's policies prior to Thatcher. I imagine that Blair will win this simply because he's the main (only?) competent politician that most of us are able to remember.

I mean, it's Blair by a huge margin if you ignore the Iraq War but that's a pretty big mark against him now...

If I have to I would say Heath. Yes he strawberry floated up a lot of gooseberry fool such as the three day week but he did help drag us in to some semblance of modern society. He brought in decimalisation and brought us in to the EU.
