Perfect Dark > Majora's Mask > Ocarina > DK64 = SM64 > Banjo Kazooie > DKR > MK64 > Goldeneye > Smash Bros > Pokemon Stadium = Pokemon Stadium GS > Lylat Wars.

Out of interest where were the games for this list taken from?

EDIT - sales figures, fair enough. Surprised PD and BK weren't in the top ten.

Now, by popular demand, what was the greatest ever N64 game? The list is based on sales figures that can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_b ... ideo_games

I've noticed that for some titles the list doesn't include European sales figures, banjo kazooie for example.

To be fair to Wronggy - it is on the last page!

Donkey Kong 64 is objectively a superior game to Banjo-Kazooie and this comes from someone with a hard-on for both games. BK has so much charm but DK64 is simply immense.

So much wrong. DK64 was the start of the collectothon rot (more is not always better) and had a stupid boss fight compared to BK's majesty.

Much wrong indeed. I never made it to the final boss in DK. Although from what I've seen the final boss was a highlight as its one of the few points switching characters felt worth it? Not that anything compares to fighting a witch on the top of a castle.

Goldeneye.

I think F-Zero, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis were better than the rest of that list.

Tough one, the N64 had some great games.

My heart says Majora's Mask, but my head says Super Mario 64. I struggle to think of another game that has come out and put so much ground between it and what came before as SM64. Still an absolute joy to play today.

EDIT:

Forgot to say, obviously the real winner would be Hybrid Heaven, but that's not on the list.

Ocarina takes it, just beating out SM64.

I agree, dude :toot: .

I'm excited because I think Moggy's next vote will be "Which colour scheme of the N64 was best?"... and everyone will choose blue/white (translucent) :toot: .

The N64 will never be mentioned again after this. It is just too controversial a subject and I will go back to polls on lighter issues like war, politics and genocide.

I immediately though Ocarina of Time but voted Super Mario 64 in terms of just how revolutionary it was. Consider this, Crash Bandicoot was released in the US 09/09/1996 a mere 20 days later Super Mario 64 launched there and the difference is staggering. You could argue it took another 2 years for something even remotely similar to launch on PlayStation as Spyro The Dragon was released in the US 09/09/1998 and even that isn't quite up to the standards of Super Mario 64.

I voted for Ocarina, but this is a great point, Salad. I bought Banjo-Kazooie first for my N64 and enjoyed that, and by the time that I got around to getting Mario I wasn't too impressed for some reason. I barely played it and quickly traded it in! A few years later - after picking up Spyro and having a ton of fun with that - I bought the Mario cart again and realised that I hadn't given it a fair play. One day I will revisit the game to make up for my mistake!
