My girlfriend hates it here(she's from Sydney) but hers is the only negative review I've ever heard of the place. People don't realise how decent a place it is to live and work in.

I can kind of understand an Australian not liking Glasgow, coming from Sydney to be fair

It's the big city to little city transition that's gotten her, I think. She's struggled to adapt to it and thinks Edinburgh will be a better fit. I don't begrudge it, but I find myself being quite defensive when she tells me how much she wants to move away, even though I'm not *technically* Glaswegian myself.

Heroin is more traditionally found in Edinburgh, dual. :D

Edinburgh  Far too many annoying students but apart from that it's great.

From those in the list I went with Edinburgh, but my real choice would have been Cardiff. For such a small place it has a huge amount to recommend it.

Edinburgh's nice just the weather's shite, do prefer Glasgow as the people are friendlier but then the weather's even worse. Not sure how Edinburgh can be criticised for being grey when Glasgow's all just one block of colour too.

Although actually that's pretty much the same across the UK and northern Europe, much prefer the south since they bother to liven up their streets a little.

Birmingham - decent
Leeds - never been, not heard good things though from people who've lived there
Glasgow - been briefly, seemed depressing as strawberry float
Sheffield - never been
Bradford - never been
Edinburgh - been briefly, centre seemed nice, outskirts not so much
Liverpool - decent
Manchester - not great
Bristol - quite nice, bit student-y though
Wakefield - never been, didn't even know it was a city

You'll thank me for that if "UK Cities beginning with W" ever comes up on a quiz. 8-)

Voted Sheffield mainly because I was born there.

No votes for Bradford, Leeds or Wakefield at the moment. West Yorkshire is obviously a very popular place.

Currently a 4 way tie between Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester. Can one of those cities manage to take the crown before the end of the poll?

Wakefield being on the list at the expense of Cardiff or Coventry is ridiculous. That 316,000 population is for the whole district, with an area of 130 square miles!

Better that it ends in a tie.

Took us 900years to get yee out so not thanks, I think poll should include the british isles though, Dublin would come third population wise on that list. :shifty:
