I'd rather the AVIVA, don't want to be giving the GAA money.

Mcgregor.

Goddamn I'm so glad I downloaded it in HD this morning rather than staying up all night! Imagine all those Irish fans who travelled so long and spent a small fortune getting there only for the fight to last not much longer than the 100m sprint!

Aldo's nose would not stop bleeding, deep cut!

I'm pretty sure the fans celebrated the win and in Vegas! Point was, he won.

What the strawberry float was that? Whole fight was long enough for a Vine  Didn't get in till about 3 last night and I'm glad I didn't stay up for that. I take it Dana White has completely shut down all talk of a rematch no doubt

Great to see that boring banana split Weidman lost. Sounds like he got his arse absolutely handed to him at the end from what I've read.

Can anyone help me out with a link to the whole fight? I've searched everywhere and can only find 7 seconds :shifty:

Damn, the fight was spoiled for me by the front page of the BBC, was not expecting it to appear there.

Yeah they've started doing this with the bigger fights. Ufc is certainly starting to get more mainstream coverage.

If they can rein in the brutality a bit (particularly by stopping fights earlier) I could definitely see it becoming more popular. Boxing used to be really brutal - even watching the Ali-Williams fight recently I couldn't believe how long the destruction of Williams was allowed to go on for before the ref called a halt to the fight - and I think curbing that in the UFC would help massively.

Don't think it will ever fully overtake boxing though, the ground game's often too technical for an easy mainstream following.

To echo GD thank god I downloaded it rather than stayed up. Shocked at how little it took to fell a great.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade wrote:If Rousey gets an immediate rematch than aldo should get one too. He was undefeated in 7 fights and hadn't lost in 10 years so he deserves it. Wether it goes the exact same again or not it doesn't matter. Cain got an immediate rematch after JDS knocked him the strawberry float out and went on to win the follow up and the rubber match.

Also its weird seeing casuals posting in here thanks to McGregor  The sooner that particular hype train is derailed the better.

Delighted that god bothering strawberry float Weidman lost too. He got lucky twice against Silva, once cause Silva was clowning and the second cause he broke his leg. But that's about the best he could hope for and Rockhold outclassed him in every aspect

Stay salty.

It won't. It's far too US-centric, the whole setup is different and having banana splits like Dana White at the top doesn't help.

I still can't see them having McGregor defend the title in Ireland. It'll be PPV event and they'd lose too much money having it on at primetime our time due to the time difference, although it would be nice for the folk across the pond to have to stay up till strawberry floating 3am to watch an event for a change. Plus there's the problems with the weather and that. They've basically got no "stars" right now other than him and Rousey, and with the latter being smashed to bits the other week and strawberry floating off for god knows how long, they'll be wanting to make as much money off McGregor as possible. His army of annoying banana splits will follow him wherever he fights anyway.

I don't mind rematches happening if the fight was lost in "odd" circumstances e.g. JDS beating Velasquez who didn't look 100% fit and Weidman's flukey wins over Silva as you've said, but Rousey getting a rematch after she was so soundly dominated is ridiculous and I'm not surprised it's happening since the suits are obviously desperate for her to be at the top. Aldo totally deserves a rematch. It's shite like that which started to make me lose interest, company favourites being picked for matches over genuine contenders.

I'm getting my time zones mixed up  :fp:

Anyway, presumably if they wanted to show it live in the US at their usual time for PPVs so it wouldn't affect the buys (7pm PST I think?), they'd have to hold the event at 3am in Ireland which is obviously a no-no.

If they had it at primetime GMT time it would be about lunchtime in the US. Not sure if they have laws over there like they do here about showing combat sports before the watershed.

This is interesting. You can see Frank Fertitta slamming the belt down when McGregor wins

There's rumours that new contract talks for McGregor are coming up soon and he's asking for silly money and ad-ons.
