Yeah, I did wonder if the companions may be a little hard to represent in your pixel style. Maybe a Weeping Angel could look cooll? It'd be great to see what your experimentation creates!

The Watching Artist wrote:...Today despite being grey and windy and also a bit rainy we had 80 more visitors. I sold just 1 fridge magnet. :( But 2 prints! :D With maybe another tomorrow. :toot:

The second weekend seems to be going well; more visibility of your work and some nice sales. Creating art and selling it to people who like it... dat professional artist :datass: .

Couple of Who ones. Daleks and a Weeping Angel. £70. Bought by a local artist who makes some amazing stuff. She might even be interested in some of my darker charcoal stuff.

Sold a couple of fridge magnets today already. :toot:

Our numbers are so much better this year. Already at 43 for the day.

The visitor numbers are terrific! Is that cash profit or income, dude? I recall you mentioning that you'd spent about two-hundred on "stock"?

I guess you've still got the final weekend though, dude. There's still time for more visitors and more income... and I'd imagine it has been cool to gain more visibility of your work :toot: .

TWA, whereabouts in Worthing are you next weekend? Might pop down to have a quick browse and introduce myself (can't promise anything though as next weekend is horrifically busy for me).

http://www.worthingartistsopenhouses.com/venue-29/ Just note that you need to come round the back via Wordsworth Rd. Should be signs and banners up to make it obvious. If the weather is really nice you might see a fat bloke cooking himself in the communal garden. Don't worry about him he is just a racist twat. Should be plenty of booklets about town or at any of the other venues. On the map they got 29 and 30 round the other way. Not that I'm saying don't go in 30. I've not been in yet but from what I've heard its very........... interesting. :slol: I may not be about this weekend because I want to go see a few things (including the Worthing Comic Con) but I also want to be about in case people want to ask questions. So any time away will be as short as I can make it. But do pop in and have a look if you can. We have cake and if its Sunday you might get to hear the singing chef. Oh and stroke the Jawa sponsored fridge magnets.

Yeah. The final weekend can often be when people decide to buy as thats when they come back with the money. Like rich and handsome Drumstick  At least my stock doesn't go rotten. Just need to find places to store it all. :slol: Its always really great hearing and seeing peoples reaction. Thats the main thing. Had a few people tell me how moving my charcoal drawing is. Some kids both love and get freaked out by the Who things. "It's like Minecraft"

"NOOOOOOOOOO. IT'S LIKE A LINK TO THE PAST YOU IGNORANT CHILD!"

Ahem. Sorry. :shifty: I told my lenticular print idea to a few people and they really liked it. Someone even suggested it might be cheaper then I think.

I like being vocal about them here in GR because they look so cool on my fridge :toot: .

It'd be ace if your idea comes to fruition... I can imagine that a Weeping Angel version would be incredible!

Matt, I have something else that you may think is worth considering. How about... a two-part fridge magnet? I've been checking out the latest Doctor Who blu-ray set for Series 10 and - as you probably know! - it comes in two parts. The cool thing is that the cover artwork - whilst great on it's own - can be lined up next to the second part to form a bigger picture.

I'm thinking that this may, with the right picture, work really well with your fridge magnet artwork. Imagine how cool it'd be to line up the two magnets to form a single bigger picture on your fridge... it could be pretty awesome!

Sounds cool but I'm not sure how I can do it without making the individual images look a bit odd.

Yeah, it could be tricky - but it may work with the right design. Some random thoughts...

> On the left magnet, Link and half the Triforce logo... on the right, the other half of the Triforce and Ganon
> On the left, Mario in a Kart on the first side of the track... on the right, the track continues with Wario in a Kart
> On the left, Kirby in Smash Bros fight mode... on the right, Fox McCloud in Smash Bros fight mode. Battle!

Oh, and another though for a cool single magnet... Professor Layton! And - random idea! - pixel game consoles. I'm imagining a SNES and an N64 in your Doctor Who pixel style! Maybe with smaller pixels...

Conscious that some of these ideas may not bear fruit, dude - but I think there is a lot of potential for the magnets :) .

Slight delay in reporting back due to my little accident but in the end we had 587 visitors over the 3 weekends. Bit gutted not to hit 600. The last day was our slowest. :( As a group we made over £600 though. I accounted for very nearly £200 of that and £78 of that figure was from fridge magnets alone. Very happy with the price increase. :shifty: So overall not enough to break even but not far off. It might lead to a few things and I've still got stock to sell so not making profit isn't a disaster.

I *knew* the fridge magnets would be popular! GRcadians are probably now sick of hearing me saying it... but they do look so good on the fridge and I recommend them :) .

I know that you were looking to break into profit, but hopefully a benefit of the exposure is that all those buyers - and even folk who just looked at your gear - now know who you are and your style of art. Maybe, as you say, in future months you'll get some of these folk looking to buy more :toot: .

Sudden thought - perhaps it could help to have your contact details (website) communicated when folk buy your gear? Maybe a little slip or card alongside the magnet? Also... how about including magnet availability/cost on your website?

When I come out with these "ideas" I only mean it in positive ways, dude - some things you may already be thinking of and some may not work... I'm just considering things that could help spread the message of MK Art :toot: .
