Nice to see this thread getting a bump. Some nice stuff .

Not added anything in a while as I've been working on a game, so I'll add a few things I've managed to do in my spare time. Moved to Rome so lots of Italy themed stuff.

Do you do commissions Sandycoin? I'm writing a children's book and currently looking at some illustrators.

Excel is brilliant for positioning and layering stuff. All the graphic stuff that I do in GRcade is layed out in Excel; I then snapshot the image from there. The only graphic program I use is Paintbrush, a very basic (think MS Paint!) package but it does allow me to manually edit stuff to remove backgrounds.

I should really start using Photoshop Elements or something, but these simple utilities have a kind of charm about them.

Yep, it's great to see a few GRcadians posting work here. There's a lot of talented folk and it's fun to see the different styles that people use and the ideas that they have.

Oh, wow, Sandy - they are terrific! I've looked at your GRcade-published work before and I like your style. I particilarly like the "floating-city" image... the slightly informal, cartoon styling works so well alongside the precise detailing of the buildings.

I do, yes. My main project has finished so I'm basically freelance now.

Cheers, Jawa.

Oh yes! You've done a great job in finishing this piece off, Matt. I like how you've used the simple, black gemotric shapes to form a link between the darkly-shaded characters and the bold orange colouring. It works so well! Superb work, dude.

I guess you're thinking about ideas for your new Star fox picture now...?

Not really sure where to put this so I'll post it here. On Friday I went up to London to see an extraordinary exhibition by fav living artist. I was allowed to take some photos and also filmed it to help show people the scale of it and the sense of the space it created. I was just going to put the vids together but it developed into something a bit more.

Blimey, it's amazing how you can stumble around GRcade and chance upon a stunning post like this. Being upfront, I am not very knowledgable about artists and I had never heard of Ken Currie before. But your video was mesmerising, Matt. Currie's artwork is, for me, both compulsive and repulsive - which I understand to be his goal. So creepy and yet you have to look at it. In particular, the men in the piano / working scene are incredibly well structured; instantly human but twisted in such a way that it almost feels wrong to look into their world.

I've searched online to view some of his other pieces and he certainly does have a unique style. This picture I found to be very intriguing - the disfiguration is so uncomfortably beguiling and yet I found myself more drawn towards the eyes as they appear, to me, to hold such a resigned expectation.

It was an unexpected treat to be able to experience the exhibition via the video and link :-).

Thanks, Matt - that was great. I hadn't spotted that, in the "girl looking at the painting" painting, part of the image is outside of the frame and next to the girl. Intriguing stuff and, as so often in art, it's up to the viewer to decide what that means.

That's terrific, BOH! I've never heard of After Effects but that is cleverly put together... I really like how you've aligned the graphics and the sound. Great work!

I was just listening to a few David Bowie tracks and constructing bits and pieces.

Sandy, your stuff is fantastic. Really reminds me of something but I can't for the life of me connect the dots.

I've only just seen this.

Man, now this is good. I like how you've taken the famous characters and added some of your own style to their design; they were just made for these kind of bold strokes and explosive colourisation! Terrific work, Matt - I think this is my favourite one of your recent pics. Tremendous!

Meanwhile, I've been listening to Absolute 70s again.

I did a 45 minute doodle of Fox on the train the other day. Wanna do a proper Starfox piece soon.
