Highlight of the time so far has been introducing my Mario Maker levels to the young lad here. They were a bit too difficult for him. I helped him complete a level no one has ever finish. By doing it for him.

Worth it just for that spread :datass: .

I get the impression that the visitor and sales volumes weren't quite as high as you'd hoped for, dude - but did you still enjoy it?

Yeah. It was terrifying but good. The sales picked up at the end mainly due to me selling a painting to the hosts and a couple of prints to my fellow artists. Which was cool but not quite the same as having an actual visitor come in a buy them.

Turn out could have been better and a whole bunch of people I invited didn't turn up which was disappointing.

I can see that it would have been frustrating to have a fairly low number of vistors but, as it was the first time you'd tried the "open house" event, I'd guess it was still great experience. You sold a few things, dude, so maybe next time you can build on that :toot: .

Yes, the boy's done well but, as usual, Matt's being too hard on himself!! No surprise there then!

Think I'm gonna get myself a tablet. I've always dabbled in Photoshop (usually to make stupid gooseberry fool), but never tried actually drawing.

Did this just now in about an hour with a crappy mouse (No tracing from an original):

That's terrific work, D_C! You've captured Iron Man really well and it was really cool to see the step-by-step process. It suggests that you could produce some excellent stuff if you carried on trying out the tools.

Thanks jawa :) Going to check out the Wacom tablets later on. Think I'll start with inking and vectoring, as I've done a little bit of that and it's actually quite therapeutic

let us know your findings!! I have been putting off getting one for long enough, but I think it would help with Lightroom & Photoshop

Also thinking about how well it would work with Visio

This post is exempt from the No Context Thread.

Work in progress - Learning the pen tool :D

Tried Illustrator first, but wasn't feeling it (I think just because I'm not used to the software):

So I started again in Photoshop:

Blimey - I'm impressed, D_C! I've never used Photoshop but I like the clean look of your image. Portal  . Do you think you're gonna continue practicing once this piece is completed?

Does anyone here have any recommendations of books/ebooks/online tutorials etc. on learning to draw? I'd quite like to try and get back into doing something creative, but at the moments I'm just kind of doodling aimlessly, and could probably use a bit of direction/instruction.

Some great YouTube channel's devoted to drawing. Mark Crilley is pretty awesome.
