Perhaps a good system would be to have it so guilty requires 2 more votes than innocent at minimum to pass?

That would be a terrible system if the mafia only have one less player.

Threshold is gooseberry fool.

Any majority is a majority, be that 1 or 10 votes.

Here is the best way to be a game master. Let the game run.

In general the greater freedom players have, the better.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

The Basics

The game plays across two phases. First, we have the DAY PHASE.

DAY PHASE
This is the main bulk of play. Players can post and it's where the town get to make their move. The day phase will begins as soon as the night phase ends.

During the day phase, players get to vote a single player to be put up for lynch. They do this by posting LYNCH: playerName.

This can happen at any time of the day, but must end by 6PM UK Time. Players may also vote NO LYNCH.

If this wins the majority there will not be a lynch.

As of 6PM UK Time the player with a pluarity of players votes will be put in the stand and will go up for the vote to either save, or end their life. In the event of no candidate reaching this threshold, an automatic No Lynch will occur

Players will vote up to 8PM by either posting VOTE: GUILTY or VOTE: INNOCENT in the thread.

At 8PM, the votes are tallied and if the player is found GUILTY (by recieving a pluarity of the votes) they are executed and they are removed from the game. Their role and Last Will will then be revealed to the thread.

Last Will?

A last will is a message from beyond the grave. At any time during the game players may make ammendments to their last will. This can contain any information that they have gathered and any suspicions they may have. Beware, if there is a forger in the game, they can target you during the night phase and forge your last will and change the information. This change cannot be undone/Will last until you re-write your last will - if you re-write a forged last will you will/will not be told of the forgeryNote. You cannot ammend the will after the end of the night/day phase you die and they can contain role related information such as your results.

An example of a good Last Will for a person with the lookout role.

Qikz the Lookout

N1 - targeted Kezzer - nobody visited
N2 - targeted Kezzer - visited by Pancake
N3 - targeted Kezzer - visited by Falsey and Errkal

At the end of the day phase, the game will head into the NIGHT PHASE at 9PM

NIGHT PHASE

Nobody is permitted to post in the thread until the night phase officially ends. Anyone who does will either be ejected from the game or replaced if another player is available. During the night phase, anyone with night roles will PM me with their actions. The night phase will end when I post to say it has ended, but this will usually be at 11PM each night although it might last a bit longer on other nights. The results will be posted to the thread by myself and only then will the game back into the DAY PHASE; meaning players will be able to post again.

I'd say personally that that sounds fine. I'll move onto the rules in a bit.

You are massively overanalysing things and worrying about things that don't need to be fixed.

As Falsey said, just let the game run and don't ruin things by getting too zealous in the rules being applied to the absolute letter.

Simplicity is better than confusion.

There is no confusion with well defined rules that need to be followed.

I just want to make sure the rules are written in a way people understand.

You do also need to learn that some rules dont matter.

For example, kill hexx, lynch hexx, Vote hexx are the same thing so don't fuss when someone gets the wrong word

However, night phase starts at 11, don't edit etc. Are rules to be rigid with.

Rigid is ok when things are kept simple, a rigid "night phase ends at 11pm. Day phase starts when I say so" just leads to utter confusion.

Consierge (Mafia Support)
- Mafia version of the investigator.
- When checking a player, Consierge will see the exact role of the targeted player.

Blackmailer (Mafia Support)

- Said player will then be silenced (meaning they can't post in the thread for that day).

Neutral

Neutral Benign roles have various win conditions.

Survivor (Neutral Benign)
- Retired from play for now.

Amenesiac (Neutral Benign)
- Can at any point "remember" who they are.
- They can remember to be the role of any single player that has died.
- They can now only remember at the end of a night phase.
- The fact they've remembered a role is announced in the thread now, but not who the amnesiac is.
- Win if they remember a role and win as that roles win condition.

Neutral Evil roles have varied win conditions.

Jester (Neutral Evil)
- Retired from play for now.

Witch (Neutral Evil)
- Can target a player each night and take control of their abilities.
- To do this they choose a player to control and one to target.
- The controlled player will then target the other with whatever power they may have (outside of personal powers like vests)
- Witch can choose target to target itself.
- Wins with the Mafia

Executioner (Neutral Evil)
- Has a target given at the beginning of the game.
- If they can get their target lynched, they will win their own personal victory.
- If their target dies due to other means, they will assume the role of Jester.

Neutral Killing roles win when they are the last player standing.
Arsonist (Neutral Killing)
- Can pick a player each night to douse on fire.
- They then have two matches, when used they will light anyone they've doused on fire during the night phase.
