Keep doing the double jump gliding move. It's much easier to stay away from him like that.

Yeah I was, it was the camera more than anything.
100% Treasure Trove Cove now.

I've been replaying this on my JXD (Couldn't be bothered digging out the N64), there must be some tomfoolery going on with the Emulator cos' this doesn't look half as bad as I expected when on HDMI Out to the TV.

Nearly completed Treasure Trove Cove, just one Jiggy left but I can't seem to find it now. The extra honeycomb pieces are elusive too, I thought I seen one down the side of a tower step in the sea but the shark was a pain in the a$$.

I'm going to try and 100% this, when I played the original I only got upto Click Clock Wood iirc.

Up to Bubblegloop Swamp now.Really enjoying it so far. :toot:

I'm not 100%ing it, just doing as much as I can of each level before I feel like I'm going to have to resort to a walkthrough to get any further! It seems so much more unfamiliar than Super Mario 64.

I like the 'hub', but due to my aging brain I have a few problems navigating it and finding my way to the puzzles/doors to levels.

I think it might be because the camera resets to being in front of you some of the times that you enter a new section, which messes with my internal map.

Freezeezy Peak 100% Took another 30mins. Fab level. I remember that the snowball bastards use to irritate the hell out of me so the first thing I did was deal with them. For some reason I found the Beak Bomb so much easier to aim then I did back then. Might be the better framerate. I love the way the jiggies kind of intertwine in the level. Really would love to see it up to date visually. So hopefully Yooka-Laylee will have a snow level.

The area around Gobi's Valley in the hub really chugs for me. I don't know whats causing it but its probably just an emulation issue.

I'm enjoying this so much I'm very tempted to dive straight in Tooie after.

All levels 100%, all notes and jiggies in the game. :datass:

Just need to face Gruntilda now, which can wait until tomorrow/the weekend. Click Clock Wood was a pain in the arse. :dread:

Right strawberry float that quiz. I got all notes, items and jiggles so may just call it quits there.

Yeah. The quiz was the reason I don't think I finished my first playthrough. It just took me sometime to get there so I'd forgotten all the answers and it killed the pace of the game. But the music during the final boss fight. :slol:

Anyway, Gobi Valley 100%. Fantastic. Took me another 30 mins. I'm really surprised with quite how quick I've managed the last couple of levels. But everything just seems to come back to me. The maze use to panic the strawberry float out of me. But once you remember you can Talon Trot for speed you've got ages. Also to get the Grunty switch its easier to reach the end, turn around and come back as the clock resets. Onto Mad Monster Mansion next. Probably my fav level.

Why didn't I use the talon trot for speed? :fp: :fp: :fp:

Finished up Clanker's Cavern last night, and made good progress in Bubblegoop.

I always forget how to raise Clanker, and spend ages wandering about. No matter how many times I play it, I never seem to remember about the key!

"HAPPY LANDINGS, LITTLE ONES."

Mad Monster Mansion 100%. Apart from the camera in the well (I died :fp: ) was a joy. Mixed feelings for Rusty Bucket Bay. I love it but..... a couple of the jiggies I'm going to need to do first in case I die and have to recollect my notes and jinjos. Was so frustrating.

TWA tip: Need health but worried the bees around the hives might get you? Shoot it with an egg from distance. Then Talon Trot quickly to the delicious honey.

I made it to Clanker's Cavern for the first time ever and it took me far longer than it should have to find the entrance  I've found two jiggies but then the Grille Chompas got the better of BK :( The camera can get a bit annoying while swimming, which isn't always the easiest thing to do, but I'm managing to work my way through the level.

Finished up Bubblegloop Swamp, but missed one of the extra honeycomb pieces which manage to break my 100% streak.

I've also finished up Gobi's Valley, which has such great music. I decided to be sneaky and do Gobi's Valley before Freezeezy Peak, so that I would have the running shoes when I face off against Boggy. So that's where I'm heading next!

Yep! Took me 20 mins just to do that. Thats as long as it takes to do Mumbos Mountain. Died over and over. :fp: It was always the hardest part of the game for me. Or at least the most frustrating. As if the turbine room isnt hard/punishing enough but then the timed dash to the propellers at the rear of the ship. When I got the jiggy they started up again. :dread: Leaving me stuck behind them. Only way out is to kill yourself. So I had to go back into the turbine room and recollect everything. :x This is something the 360 version saves you from. I love the rest of the level though. Exploring both interiors and the exterior. Finding the hidden cabin rooms and stuff like that. Plus the hyper polite enemies.

Might well attempt to finish this off tomorrow. And then go through Tooie next week. I'll keep posting in this thread if thats ok?

Hmm. Quiz done on my second attempt. Wasn't too bad I didn't think..? :shifty:

Struggling with Gruntilda though. For those who have beaten her before, I keep getting hit with her fireballs as I'm trying to fire eggs into the Jinjo statues (and in particular the Jinjonator). There never seems to be a break between fireballs to allow me to fire the eggs. :x Is there something I'm missing here, or some kind of trick to it?

The problem I have with the quiz is that because I've been playing this game over a couple of years, I can barely remember anything, so most of it is complete guess work.

Mm, yeah. The questions don't change that much I don't think, so once you know the right answer to one it'll soon come round again. You can try and get a Joker as well which lets you skip two questions, if any 'type' of question is particularly hard (I skipped the timed challenges, as I hate repeating stuff I've done before). If you're not fussed though, like you say you've got the notes/jigsaw pieces.
