You can still join in. Nobody in this thread is playing through it at exactly the same time. We're all going at different speeds. So in a sense this isn't really like the GRPlayde threads.

Still on the first disc, just wandering about as I haven't got a clue where the Temple of the Ancients is.

Directly south of Junon, on its own little island. It looks like a ziggurat.

It'd help if I knew what a ziggurat was.

I remember on my 1st playthrough i spent AGES searching for it, i had this little handheld walkthrough, which said it was near the Gold Saucer :fp:

I'm at the Northern Crater now and getting a little bit frustrated. So many monsters that have attacks that cause instant dead... A bit cheap. :(

Also, it's not quite clear to me what to do at the point where you split your party up.
At the first junction I sent everyone who was not in my party to the right and went with the party to the left. At the next junction where I had to choose again, I went up with the whole party. I kept going until I get back to the same point.

Not entirely sure what I should do there.

Everyone gathers up at the point of no return, at the very bottom of the crater. Depending on what people you send down what paths, they will give you items they've found. It's possible to duplicate a few nice things, but nothing absolutely essential.

And done.

Still one of the greatest games of all time. I just felt more detached from Cloud this time. I guess Zack in Crisis Core had an impact on me. I just prefer him to Cloud now.

I might start another run through Crisis Core now, well after I have finished Final Fantasy
.

I kind of lost interest in this and stopped playing, I haven't even finished the 1st disc.

Shame. The section from the Temple of the Ancients through the 2nd disc is the best bit in my opinon.

And... finished too. Once I figured out how to beat Bizarro Sephitoth, it wasn't that hard anymore. The animation of a particular attack in his last form, the one where you see a fiery ball destroy all planets in the Milky Way before getting to Earth sure lasted for ages. Which makes me wonder: They always refer to the planet they lived on as 'the Planet'. Was it somehow Earth after all? Doesn't look like it. Enjoyed the ending a lot.

All in all: great game. Clearly showing its age but that doesn't make it less great. I'm glad I took the time to play through it! :D

I decided to give this game another chance. I'm absolutely rubbish at it. I can't even defeat the big scorpion thing after setting the bomb at the beginning. :fp:

Attack Attack Attack, when it's tail raises don't attack and heal with "item" "Potion" when it's tail goes down repeat

If anyone gets low on HP Use Potion.

DO NOT ATTACK when tail is in the air

I am considering it.

But I want to finish DQV first. And finish Donkey Kong Jungle Beat properly. And finish Punch Out.And that Oblivion / Bioshock disk looks tempting. And I should dust off the old Dreamcast and finish Shenmue 2.Should finish Zelda: ALTTP as well. And Resident Evil: Code Veronica. And Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. And Super Mario RPG.And Donkey Kong Country 3.And Super Mario Bros 3.And Wii Sports Resort is out next week. And get hold of a copy of Golden Sun as Hexx got Phantom Hourglass as well (Hope he forgot about that one).And... and... and...

I need some help.

I've been trying to finish this today but Safer Sephiroth keeps killing me :x . I can beat the two bosses before that reasonably easily but I think I might be either too under-levelled (55, 54, 53) or under-prepared to beat him. Would it be easier to load up a previous save from before I entered the crater and get a load of better weapons/materia, or is it doable?

I've started playing Crisis Core and would ideally like to finish both before Advent Children (blu-ray) arrives next week.

PS. Zack>>>>Cloud.

It's doable (I've done it with characters of that level) but by gum is it hard. Best bet would be to go get Cloud's ultimate weapon if you haven't already done it (biff Ultima weapon until he crashes) and a few others if you can be bothered. After that go back and forth through the Northern Cave and grinding for a while. The enemies dispense tons of XP/AP so you should level nice and quickly.

Get some ribbons while you're at it since he will use Pale Horse and then use Supernova straight after.
