I played these when I was a kid and the expanded screen space is the big selling point for me. Being able to see more in front of you will be great.

Haha, it crossed my mind as I typed it to add “commander”.

Love the fact that they’ve added the “switch to original” on-the-fly, instead of booting up separately.

Was Biomenace made by Apogee?

Spent many an afternoon playing it at college instead of doing work.

There were loads of emulators and old DOS games hidden on most of the (ageing) computers, PGA golf 94 was another one I wasted many hours on.

I think it was published by them at least. Not sure who made it off the top of my head.

Does anyone have any first hand experience or memories of the Official PSone LCD screen? I noticed it in the window of a CEX and they wanted a whopping £165 for it.

I remember it came out very late in the UK (Christmas 2002) and topped Official PlayStation Magazine's list of attachable screens, but I was just wondering how it would hold up today or is known for any poor backlighting or longevity issues. I think the screen is about 5" or 6".

Seen a number of new OLED PS Vita's pop up recently on eBay. I do miss my Vita (sold it off) but I was concerned with the longevity of those screens.

I have the official PSone screen still boxed in the back of a cupboard, last time I got it out it still looked as good as it ever did, but I do think that's a lot of money for one really.

I had the LCD Vita and my Daughter had the OLED hers is still holding up well but I'd call her a medium level player not a game obsessive like me so wether it would have faired worse in the hands of someone who hammered. the system and was on it constantly I have no idea.

I have two of 'em, KK, and they're really good quality. Yeah, the screen is small (5") but games look good on it and I used it loads from around 2001 to 2003. It looks great teamed up with the PSone, too! I haven't used it for quite a few years now, though.

Looking at "recently sold" prices on eBay, that price seems okay/reasonable; they can go higher depending on condition. Of course, it's still quite expensive for an old, small screen! Third-party screens - of which there were a few - go for a lot less but the Official version was generally regarded as being of the best quality.

The PSone was my first PlayStation. Got it in 2000 the day it launched with FF8, Tenchu 2 and I think Street Fighter Alpha 3.

Never got the LCD screen for it though. I never had a situation where it would have been any use at the time and I was a poor student. :lol:

A work friend is moving and so she gave me a bag of Random Tech and I figured id record myself going through it..... thought it might be of intrest to some of you.

I don’t know if Super Stardust HD doesn’t play nice with an SSD on PS3, but my weapons now keep auto switching (not constantly, but still enough to be irritating). Normally you’d have to press either L1 or R1 to swap between the 3 shooting types, but it’s now doing it at random. At first I thought ‘oh great, the controller’s screwed’ but I swapped it out for another DualShock 3 and then a SIXAXIS and it’s still happening.

Whilst searching about information on the classic game Hunchback by Ocean, I stumbled across an excellent website that produces in-depth analysis and opinion comparing games across different computer platforms.

Finnish Retro Game Comparison Blog is well worth a look if this is your bag. This link takes you to the Hunchback comparison page, but select Home and you'll see that there are loads more comparisons, too. Graphics, performance, load times... it's great!

I loved Hunchback on the Spectrum! The C64 version is on Antstream, but I really want to play the Speccy version for the nostalgia.

Having a blast playing Alundra for the first time on my Miyoo Mini+, not sure how this passed me by for so many years I always thought it was a turn based JRPG not a Zelda like ARPG.

I played this for the first time a few years ago. It was great, but quite difficult from what I remember. I also recall struggling to work out where to go without using a guide. Would like to get back into it at some point though, as it's clearly very good.

There have been some obscure cryptic puzzles I can't pretend I didn't use a guide to get past but I'm giving it a go myself first.

Seems like the sequel went polygonal with a crap camera and then the series died, shame.

The boxed copy of Alundra which I've got comes with a fold out mini-map and a Hints Tips and Cheats guide courtesy of Official PlayStation Magazine, along with a £1 voucher for their spin-off tips magazine which apparently was to include the full authorised walkthrough. Instead at the time I picked up part 2 of the one PlayStation Solutions ran.

I can't remember how it sold, but it's reviewed in the same issue of OPM as Resident Evil 2, Theme Hospital and Deathtrap Dungeon, so another busy month on PS1.

I use it more than my more powerful retroid 3+. More pocketable and the dpad and buttons are on par with what Nintendo would put on a game boy.

Plus onion os game switcher is *chefs kiss* If I put it down to make dinner or whatever it’ll auto save and shut down then when I come back it’s all still there.
