You're very welcome! Your beer blog came in most handy for researching, I no idea it came with a glass, may have missed that.

Hey Jay, just wanted to let you know that everything works perfectly!

Image

It works with the GC lead, so I got a picture on my TV straight away.

Now, I'm aware of the stereotype that Japanese folk prefer smaller things than us westerners, but still...

Image

Still, it means I'm right up to the screen - just like the first Christmas I got this game.

Thanks again, Jay. Hope you have a great 2016! :toot:

Ah, nice one. I love it when a plan comes together. I just kind of realised that by recreating a previous Christmas, I didn't actually get you anything new :fp: so hopefully the nostalgia factor is enough to keep you entertained ;)

Ordering a Pizza wrote:I'm glad that you enjoyed your presents, Jay. I definitely wanted to get you something to unwrap but I wasn't sure which amiibo that you had so I went for the newer ones because I felt that there was more of a chance that you wouldn't have them. I did find your Twitter so I knew not to get ROB and there was an old post about how the normal woolly Yoshi is hard to find so I went for the big one so it wouldn't be too much of a duplicate if you did track down a normal sized one.

You did a great job choosing them which is no mean feat. They're the perfect sort of presents because they're things I wanted but I wasn't really sure if I could justify buying them, but now I get them guilt free :toot: Huge thanks again for making my day feel more Christmassy

I played for about an hour last night. Apparently I'm 25% of the way through. :slol:

TBH I'd have expected to have gotten further in. Must be getting worse in my old age.

You must be somewhere in Krem Quay?

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Yeah played up to Wrinkly's in Krem Quay. Game seems the same as the PAL version except I found a secret in the water level on the first world which skipped almost all the level and I'd never found that before - but I don't know if I just missed it the first time around.

Glad to see it all came together. I was worried went I sent it to you because every time I picked up the box it sounded like the contents were broken.

Got a bit further along:

Image

Also today in town I found this for a couple of quid. Of course, given my recent gift, I had to buy it.

Image
I have no idea what game this is, but that's definitely Ebisumaru from Mystical Ninja, so a-buy it I did.

This is the title screen:

Image

It's a sort-of puzzle game, similar to Chu Chu Rocket. Ebisumaru prances around a stage, apparently drunk or high or something, and lands on tiles that force him to move in that direction. The whole thing is done in an isometric grid so it can be pretty fiddly, and quite hard in places. Ebisumaru is a bit weird and given that this is the Japanese version it hasn't been censored or toned down for a 90s Western audience. I'm pretty sure at one point while celebrating our completing of a level he mooned me.

Image

There's also a really long introduction, which makes absolutely no sense to me. It's a bit meta - Ebisumaru gets a SNES game and goes into hibernation and plays it for days, eating nothing but bowls of some kind of food. When he finally does leave his house, he gets angry and swears revenge (I think). There's a full map screen too between levels although nothing except from the levels appears to be interactive and you automatically start the level as soon as you reach it on the map.

Image
Yep, that about sums up my feelings on the matter.

Ha, amazing scenes! I was initially going to get you some kind of Goemon based present before I decided on SDK/DKC 2. I'm surprised you managed to find a Super Famicom cart!

As was I! And it was only £2. Thank goodness for (semi-)indies, eh?
