Ok, so here's the test stream I did.

A couple of kinks to point out.

There is no way I can find to make donation alerts pop up. The only way I was able to get the amount and last donation info to appear was to manually capture those parts of the JG web page. This means there's no way to change the text colour or font.

When I switch to a fullscreen capture I'm currently stretching the video to fit the space, hence the crap quality. The only way I can think to do it differently would be to have multiple monitors set up that could have a much bigger video to capture from. At the moment I'm using two monitors, with one being used as a preview of the stream, and the other containing the four windows I'm capturing. With three I could have the preview on one, with a video on each of the other two. This is something I'll look into over the next few weeks.

The fullscreen overlay is very much a work in progress as well, though the multi-stream screen is pretty close to how it should look.

Now I'm not particularly good at graphics, so if someone else wants to take a shot at creating the overlays that would be great.

So kind of big news I asked work for a donation of £100 and they have offered much more.

I'm waiting to hear back from the charity themselves about a few things logistically but lets say that the figure is at least 10 times greater than what I wanted work to contribute.

I'll keep you all posted.

The only small issue is they want to buy the charity something tangible rather than donate cash but I still feel we should be able the figure towards our overall goal.

strawberry floating hell. :D

That's awesome news!
Let us know how it goes down. If they go with a donation then we can add it to our total as a "cash" donation.

I've added NBK's target and total raised to our own. This puts our target at a very manageable (I believe) £1100, with £138 raised so far.

Anyone wishing to donate directly to NBK rather than the GRcade page can do so here.

Episode 19 of the SKSP Podcast is also up and can be listened to here.

Since upgrading my PC, I've just done a test stream of GTA5, and everything seems to be running nicely now.

Hey guys, anyone signed up to support SKSP this year can use this code for their signature. The affiliate image doubles up as a sig at 2x resolution:

Code: Select all

Decided to set up my own JG page as I'm hoping to get some other people involved. I'll still take part in the GR 'event' as it were though.

New PC build should be complete soon so I'll get testing my streaming set up and start putting a plan together.

I was thinking of doing some 'endurance/extreme' type stuff. ie a 90 minute game on FIFA, maybe hiking from one end of the map to the other in GTAV. Bit stuck for other similar ideas though. Maybe a full length race on a driving game (not my area of knowledge )

I've sent in the application to work to get the go ahead for the 2k donation should hear back next month.

It has to be presented to a committee but the person I discussed it with sounded optimistic.
New sig looks awesome :)

Excellent news there guys!

Thanks to GG for setting up the sigs and affiliate links! Hopefully it'll help to spread awareness a bit further.

Minty! Glad to hear you'll be taking part! Post a link to your JG page and I'll do what I've done with NBK and add your targets + amount raised to our own. Gotta keep track of that GRcade total!

And SlayerX. Without a doubt pulling more than his weight here. I think it goes without saying that if this donation comes through you have been the hero SKSP deserves. Well done that man.

We're in a good place now.

Anyway, I believe my JG page is justgiving.com/profile/minty14 ... not that I've done anything past setting it up so far.

Yo, I'm a tad late to the party over here, but I have been thinking about this meantime. I've started looking into speed running games, and I thought I'd incorporate that into the 24 hours. Not sure what game I'd run, I'm thinking Majora's Mask or something similar, but if anyone has any suggestions give me a shout. Anyway, as for donations, I'd like to say I'll get more, but just to be safe I'll say about £50. I'll keep updating on how the actual figure is shaping up. :toot:

Glad to have you on board! You're not late at all. Most of us haven't even started our fundraising efforts yet (Though SlayerX is putting us all to shame  ).

I've added your target to our overall target. Lets us know how you get on and more about what your planning on doing. Hope to see more of you on the forum!
