Anyone got recommendations for pubs/bars/clubs in Milan? It's for a stag, so less formal places really.

There's a place called pitbull which is tiny and expensive and awful but if you're drunk as gooseberry fool €10 will get you a vodka tonic and sexual assault. There's another bar round the corner (I'll try to google it and get back to you) that does €5 cocktail and a shot. They just pour liquor so gets you strawberry floated up.

I did a day trip to Amsterdam a couple of years ago, but never actually found the red light district (i didn't know the centre layout very well at the time), i did see plenty of weed though.

I hate the red light district, full of drunk British twats. Nice city otherwise though, great parks for a smoke.

As evidenced by the English football fans last week!

This isn't a joke - we found a signature in the guest book at the Anne Frank house that read:

"Dear Anne

Nice place. Sorry about the holocaust.

A. Hitler."

Unbelievable.

Were there any other celebrity signatures?

Can anyone make a recommendation on a good amount of time needed for New York? It would be a trio for me and the wife and we would want to see all the sights.

We are also interested in San Francisco, Washington DC, Vegas and LA but doing it all may be too much and it may be best to do just the two places

Any amount of time in New York isn't going to be enough. There's endless things to do and I doubt you'd ever get bored. Just spend as much time there as you can.

I'm also of the persuasion that you should visit fewer places for longer rather than skipping all over the place and not getting to experience anything properly. I don't know why people do the latter. It's like you're filling in a checklist rather than having a holiday.

4-5 days for New York.

How long do you have? Obviously your places are split between east and west coast there.

I'm poor so I check in a few days at a time, so I can return knowing for sure dropping serious money and annual leave privleges is gunna be worth it. I'd probably be disappointed if it turned out to be a place I don't care for, but satisfies my curiousity enough spending at least some time there. This works better for Europe like, if I'm spending £600 on flights I'm not doing that four times over. (Hence were doing 5 places in 4 weeks off the back of a return to Asia)

Also New York we did in 4 nights/5das but that was simply Christmas related stuff. Like Smurfy said, I could go back for a month and still miss things. Pick you priorities and go from there.

Me and the wife have decided on a week and we won't travel on anywhere else in America.

Should be enough time to do what we want plus some and I feel it makes sense to do this rather than trying to rush onto somewhere else and cram it all in.

Off for several days in Munich and then Salzburg (and surrounding area) in May. Not been too far south in Germany so far, so looking forward to it. I love mountainous countryside, and Hamburg is pretty much completely flat so definitely need a bit of wilderness. Any ideas for Munich? Bar recommendations always seem to show up Hofbrauhaus but we have that here, so it's not too big a deal. So any other food, drink, sight recommendations are welcome. We are planning to pop to Neuschwanstein castle as it's relatively close to Munich also. Also any recommendations for Salzburg.

The Englischer Garten is very touristy but great for some outside Biers.

Neuvestein schloss is a nice day trip. (spelling)
