Sad to see monarch go bust today. Usually prefer them for my flights to Spain. Been following the story all weekend despite it not being reported very widely, leading to a lot of surprised people turning up at airports today having heard nothing about it.

What time in march? Might be here for cherry blossom season if it's early next year.

It's the first couple of weeks of March. Heard something about plum blossom coming out a bit earlier (?), so may be in time for that if not the cherry. Really can't wait though, been wanting to visit Japan for a good while.

Will have a week off this month so planning to possibly go to Berlin on my own. Never been to Germany before...thinking 3 nights...Arrive Sunday night and stay until Weds night. £50 return on easy jet.
Got a travel guide but it doesn't look that interesting. But I heard its great.

Making an impromptu trip to Vienna tomorrow, only gonna be there for probably about 8 hours so will need to cram in the main sights but if anyone has any recommendations for something very slightly off the beaten trail or a nice place to eat or something it’d be appreciated. xoxo

There is a Greek restaurant next to the Belvedere Museum that is good. After we had paid the bill and we’re about to go to the museum he brought us out another carafe of wine. When that was done he then brought us out some Ouzo. We eventually managed to stagger across to look at some Klimts. There is also a souvenir shop near it that proudly advertises the fact that Sharon Stone once visited it. Also worth a look is the Hündertwässer house.

Art Corner? I’ll bear all of that in mind, thanks. Will probably skip the Sharon Stone souvenir shop though ;)

Are you doing Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island? Definitely check out Ellis Island.

I liked the Rockefeller more than the ESB, do one of them at night if you can. I'd also recommend an afternoon in Brooklyn if you have the time. Chelsea is worth a look, just head for the Friends building.

Tokyo in August. You'll reach new levels of sweatiness in untold amounts of crevices. I had about three showers a day in the summer and I AM NEVER CLEAN.

Just booked a solo holiday to Berlin for 3nights/4days in early November.
Quite looking forward to it but don't know what to expect. Heard great things about the city but some people say its boring. So decided to go and see anyway.

Staying in Alexanderplatz at the Hampton by Hilton and flying Ryanair (for the first time)...heard loads of bad things about their service but hopefully it'll be fine :)

This isn't really a foreign travel question, but after getting married next July, we're looking for somewherein the UK to go for a couple of nights. We're both going to be having massively busy time with degrees/PhD so saving a bigger honeymoon for later in the year. Just looking for somewhere in the UK which gives us time away. Any specific recommendations chaps?

You need someone straight after the wedding? Most people take a few years before it gets stale and they try and spice it up.

I can’t promise I can go solidly for the whole couple of nights, but I’ll give it a go if you really need somebody.

We did Morroco in August so we're sadly experienced in the "being wrung out like a sponge" experience.

If anyone has done Japan - did they do the Ghibli museum and is it worth the effort if so?
