Thanks Karl, those stats are interesting. And while decline may not be terminal it does reiterate the need for us to encourage new members (I agree with encouraging the creation of new topics for titles, rather than losing them in mega-threads – the Switch chat thread is a good example).

The Breath of the Wild thread is popular despite the Switch chat thread, but that, Splatoon, and Mario Kart are the only ones that I can see as popular. Maybe these console threads should act more as hubs to direct people to the individual threads while being more about the console itself than the games on it.

I still come to Grcade almost purely out of habit at this stage. In reality I rarely log in and only look at a handful threads.

I do like this place, it has personality and a sense of community. I kind of think the idea of a forum is virtually obsolete in today's world, even major websites can hardly get people to visit their site. I do wonder if the core posters who actually keep this place alive would be better off as a twitter community or subreddit. Realise I'm part of the problem though, and I'd be sad if it ever went away.

It's a shame Discord isn't a bigger thing on here.

Twitter is awful. Bad format, bad website, bad userbase.

Reddit is OK if you take the time to cultivate your subs and really segregate yourself. The median Redditor is a screeching manbaby who looks and acts like the "m'lady" meme and has views a hair shy of Goebbels so you've got to work hard to make sure you never interact with those people. Even if you do that, the recent redesign is truly awful.

Plus the threaded up voting thing kind of kills any sense of prose and continuity. Everything bubbles up via populism. I don't really think of Reddit as a forum, it's some weird hybrid.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

One of the things ive noticed from sorted the tweet bit is how ma y threads are made.

I was expecting it to not have much to send out and I would have to rework it so it tweets about a thread more but right now since it started working there are 40 threads it is sending out as it needs to.

It's to the point that I had to fudge it to test that stuff would actually mark as complete at 3 tweets as nothing was reaching 3 tweets before a bunch of new threads came up and got sent out.

What I'm trying to say is we seem to have quite a lot of new content and maybe if there is a feeling that we are running low on that (dunno if there is) we need to look at the homepage idea or some way of showcasing our new threads better on site for people to see them easier and so engage more.

I wonder when we will actually die. I can see us all posting on here until we're actually dead in real life .

Or is that just me :shifty:.

Maybe the How Are You Today thread should be rebooted every day.

If we all start clubbing together now, we could open out own forum retirement home with a games + stuff room.

Shitting yourself + stuff

Every single day Ad7 will be sat in the TV room moaning that Staydead is smoking weed outside. "He's 80 now, why hasn't he grown out of it?"

The really sad thing will be that Ad’s Alzheimers will be so advanced by then that he will not have realised that Staydead died 7 years earlier and Prime Minister Jamie Oliver banned crisps in 2027.
