Too late to add games, though I'd veto them from orbit.

Obviously this is just an experiment, and the resultant list will not constitute a list of the forum's favourite games, or even recommended games. And yes, some of the approaches have been silly, but that's because as a concept it was obviously unbalanced from the start. What has been interesting is the order in which games have left the list, rather than the final likely list itself. But I'm going to assume that anyone getting angry at others, is doing so with the same seriousness as those who are making them angry. I know lists are srs bsns, but.... come on.

No anger on my part. A fair bit of disappointment, but no anger.

And I'd previously avoided vetoing Ocarina (which I don't rate so highly) out of genuine respect for other people's opinions. That's all out the window now.

OrangeRakoon, you should run it again where people can vote for a certain number of games, then a separate topic where people can veto a certain number of games. Perhaps you should have to explain your reasoning. I think it would be quite interesting if run with some thought out rules.

I think the next attempt should be completely blind, you nominate games via PM, and veto via PM, but because you can't see the list of nominations, you have to guess at what might be on there to veto it.

I'd argue the discussion over why you're voting for and vetoing games is more valuable than whatever list comes out at the end. Otherwise it would all be a bit sterile.

Yeah but then the list would be filled of niche games people voted for that nobody would think to veto because they'd either never heard of them or they wouldn't think they'd be on the list.

I'm sure there's a decent way of doing this but I'm not sure what the most foolproof way would be.

This was seriously a great social experiment and I have 0 problems with how it was run. It's kept my interest all the way through.

If we wanted to reach more 'sensible' results then a more 'stable' way to do it is an upvote/downvote system. If you nominate a game it enters the table with 0 points, and anyone can upvote or downvote anything for any reason. At the end you'll have a table and some games will look like +12 (15 upvotes - 3 downvotes) and other games will look like -4 (0 upvotes, 4 downvotes). You keep anything +1 or higher.

No matter who picks the list and what games are on it, each of us will say "WTF?!? Why isn't [game title] on the list/higher/lower?". Any "list of best games" just serves to act as a talking point. People will only be happy if the list matches their personal list... which is unlikely to happen :) .

Edge, and Rakoon, have created that perfect storm of discussion/rage and good luck to 'em :toot: .
