I have 9 nominations still in the list.

Of course someone like Rinks or HSH will probably veto the lot.

The remaining vetoes have been counted and the ensuing bloodbath is over. Finally, we have an unequivocal list of the greatest games of all time, as decided by near consensus by you, GRcade. At last the debate has been settled forevermore as we are left with 53 games deemed worthy of a top 100 placement!

Games with 2 vetoes

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Chrono Trigger
Dishonored
Eternal Darkness
F-Zero GX
GoldenEye
Jeanne D'arc
Jet Set Radio Future
Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe)
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Prime
Nights into Dreams
Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors
Outrun 2
Paper Mario
Portal 2
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
Sid Meier's Civilization V
Super Mario 3D World
Super Mario 64
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario Kart
Super Monkey Ball
System Shock 2
The Operative: No One Lives Forever
The Witcher 3
The World Ends With You
Thief 2: The Metal Age
Thief: The Dark Project
Unreal Tournament
Viewtiful Joe
Wii Sports
XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Within

Some big names feature amongst the 33 games that received only 2 votes against, including my personal prediction of the game I thought was going to go all the way - F-Zero GX. By far the most represented franchise in the list, six Mario games made it to this point of near-universal praise, including the genre-defining Super Mario 64 - but that's no the last you'll see of the famous plumber!

Games with 1 veto

Advance Wars
Cannon Fodder
Donkey Kong Country 3
Donkey Kong Country
Metal Gear Solid
Metroid: Zero Mission
Monkey Island
No More Room In Hell
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario World
Syndicate
Tales of Symphonia
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

19 games could only find a single vote against them, and while I'm not convinced all would still be here given more time for voting (that's right, I'm looking at the late nominations Cannon Fodder and Syndicate), all here are deserving of praise. The original Metal Gear Solid won out over its sequels, all of which were voted out the list, while Civilization IV cements itself as the best Sid Meier game, just winning out over Alpha Centauri and Civilization V that we've just seen had two vetoes each (I'd have given my preference to Civ V, but I can't deny IV's brilliance either). Mario also returns with his final four entries - now we know that Galaxy, Galaxy 2, Super Mario World and Paper Mario: TTYD are the four best Mario games ever made! Finally we also see The Legend of Zelda make its mark on the final list with a whole three entries - but perhaps not the ones you were expecting. The oft-voted greatest game of all time, Ocarina of Time fell short in the final round of vetoes, leaving just it's sequel Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, and the latest Zelda game, Breath of the Wild.

And here they are, the games that survived with not a single detractor. The games so universally acclaimed that no single person can find significant fault in their design. The games that truly will go down as the greatest of all time.

Sorry, did I say games? I meant game. There is only one...

Games with no vetoes

Super Metroid

That's right - the unrivalled number one game by this list's reckoning is Super Metroid. The franchise did well throughout - Metroid Prime, Metroid Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission all made the final cut - but Super Metroid did the impossible and had not a single vote against it - despite being nominated on the very first page! That's quite a result, and perhaps a surprise - although I know it will make some of you at least very happy!

So that's that. Thanks for participating in this experiment, and I hope you've enjoyed it! I would say post your reaction to the final list, but of course by its very nature we all know that no one can disagree with it... apart from Knoyleo, of course!

The Knoyleo list of one extra veto for everything

Advance Wars
Cannon Fodder
Donkey Kong Country 3
Donkey Kong Country
Metal Gear Solid
Metroid: Zero Mission
Monkey Island
No More Room In Hell
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario World
Syndicate
Tales of Symphonia
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Super Metroid

Here's some interesting stats for you - 42% of the games on the final list are Nintendo franchises, and 19% of the final list is made up of Mario games alone, with 10 surviving nominations.

I heartily endorse this result.

I'd been keeping an eye out for Super Metroid the whole way through this. I didn't even want to mention it as I knew Pedz would veto it out of badness.

Best SNES game ever, my favourite game ever and GRcades Greatest game ever by concensus. :toot: :toot: :toot:

EDIT: Can't wait for Metroid: Samus Returns on Friday, then Super Metroid 60Hz goodness with the SNES Mini two weeks on Friday!

I still prefer OOT to WW. Though I'm glad WW, MM and BOTW made it as far as they did.

Thank goodness Goldeneye didn't win. The amount of praise that game still gets despite having aged really badly is ridiculous. At least super metroid is as good as the day it came out.

Lol what a result.

Can I just congratulate OR on creating both the best and worst thread on Grcade I've ever seen. Highly entertaining car crash thread. Well done.

And I'd previously avoided vetoing Ocarina (which I don't rate so highly) out of genuine respect for other people's opinions. That's all out the window now.

You took down my game so I had to retaliate. Sorry!

I went through this entire train wreck to see which monsters vetoed Deus Ex so that I could send them a horse's head in the post but got too confused by all the people trying to veto the whole bloody list. It's a sham! The only person I can see who genuinely vetoed Deus Ex as part of a short list is Drumstick. A horse's head is on its way. Drumstick. :x :x :x

I have to say, I think this approach really goes against a lot of your arguments in the KFC thread.
