The remaining vetoes have been counted and the ensuing bloodbath is over. Finally, we have an unequivocal list of the greatest games of all time, as decided by near consensus by you, GRcade. At last the debate has been settled forevermore as we are left with 53 games deemed worthy of a top 100 placement!

By far the most represented franchise in the list, six Mario games made it to this point of near-universal praise, including the genre-defining Super Mario 64 - but that's no the last you'll see of the famous plumber!

The original Metal Gear Solid won out over its sequels, all of which were voted out the list, while Civilization IV cements itself as the best Sid Meier game, just winning out over Alpha Centauri and Civilization V that we've just seen had two vetoes each (I'd have given my preference to Civ V, but I can't deny IV's brilliance either). Mario also returns with his final four entries - now we know that Galaxy, Galaxy 2, Super Mario World and Paper Mario: TTYD are the four best Mario games ever made! Finally we also see The Legend of Zelda make its mark on the final list with a whole three entries - but perhaps not the ones you were expecting. The oft-voted greatest game of all time, Ocarina of Time fell short in the final round of vetoes, leaving just it's sequel Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, and the latest Zelda game, Breath of the Wild.
And here they are, the games that survived with not a single detractor. The games so universally acclaimed that no single person can find significant fault in their design. The games that truly will go down as the greatest of all time.
Sorry, did I say games? I meant game. There is only one...
Games with no vetoesSuper Metroid
That's right - the unrivalled number one game by this list's reckoning is Super Metroid. The franchise did well throughout - Metroid Prime, Metroid Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission all made the final cut - but Super Metroid did the impossible and had not a single vote against it - despite being nominated on the very first page! That's quite a result, and perhaps a surprise - although I know it will make some of you at least very happy!
So that's that. Thanks for participating in this experiment, and I hope you've enjoyed it! I would say post your reaction to the final list, but of course by its very nature we all know that no one can disagree with it... apart from Knoyleo, of course!
