Previous GRecommends threads

This month we’re looking to determine the top 10 titles for the Game Boy Advance.

Image

If you need a reminder, here's a list of GBA games.

Just list your top 10 below (each counts for one vote, so ranking them isn't important).

Voting is open for a month, and will close on 5 August.

As always, I look forward to seeing your nominations.

This list will definitely take some careful consideration.

  • Advance Wars
  • Mario Kart: Super Circuit
  • Kuru Kuru Kururin
  • Metroid Fusion
  • Astro Boy: Omega Factor
  • Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper
  • Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 - I don't know how they managed this port on GBA hardware
  • Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
  • Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town
  • Golden Sun

I've intentionally left out some games that were ports of SNES releases as I intend to put them in the SNES list when we get round to it (I didn't own one so there aren't many games I've actually played).

In no particular order

Kuru Kuru Kururin
Advance Wars
Wario Ware
Pokemon Fire Red
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
Metroid Fusion
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga
Wario Land 4
Sonic Advance

The Super Mario Advance ports and Link to the Past come very close to this for me, they were my first opportunities to play some of these games but the others as entirely original games have to come first.

Absolutely brilliant system though, I made the mistake of selling a number of my Game Boy Advance games years ago, really need to pick some of the missing ones up at some point in the near future.

Rhythm Tengoku
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Astro Boy: Omega Factor
Klonoa: Empire of Dreams
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Sonic Advance
Wario Ware: Twisted
Fire Emblem
Advance Wars
Metroid: Zero Mission

Was quite hard to narrow that down to 10. GBA

I'm only here to look down my nose at anyone who omits Advance Wars.

What an incredible game that was. :datass:

I've never played the GBA sequel sadly, though I have played Klonoa 1-2 since. Such a lovely little platformer series

From what little I played on GBA I'd go with

Advance Wars
Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga
Golden Sun
Mario Golf: Advance Tour
Megaman Battle Network 2
Chu Chu Rocket
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Maybe more to follow.

Dream Champ Tournament didn't get released over here :( I've played it only briefly as I emulated it, but it just doesn't feel right to me to play it with keyboard controls.

I borrowed Klonoa 2 back in the day so still need to get my own copy. As well as Empire of Dreams I have the Klonoa remake for Wii and the PS1 game digitally on Vita. I used to own the PS1 beach volleyball game too, but traded it in (one of only 2 games I have ever traded in) and I regret it greatly. I need to get on ebay or something and fix these holes in my Klonoa collection.

Well, feel free to pity me. Never knew it was a thing. Just googled it and it looks great: loved WW on the GameCube.

Presumably the hardware involved means you can't emulate it, either :(

I'm sorry my tolerance for mediocre games is low.
