Super Smash Bros Melee.
My favourite Smash Bros. Though it is closely followed by Smash 4. Wish i had played Project M, as that was meant to be Melee with loads of extra gooseberry fool (I think it was a PC thing.)

Metroid Prime.
This is the Best Metroid after Super.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. I loved this at the time, the visuals, the charm, lots about it was great. Yes it's way to easy and stuff was cut, but it still stands as a great game in my eyes.
Rouge Leader. Not a massive fan of games where you fly around a shoot stuff, but this was on another level for me. I think it's the best in its genre. (From what I have played at least)

Resident Evil Remake.
I like Resident Evil back on PS1, but didn't love it, this I loved. Everything about it was great and it had a cracking atmosphere too. I think it's probably my favourite, just edging out my next choice.

Resident Evil 4.
It's a shame they went a bit gooseberry fool with 5 and 6 and i find this has a better blend of action and horror than the other game. Still not as good asy previous game choice.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
What can I say, a sublime game from start to finish, great sense of humour, great visuals, and one thing that is great is the little touches it does with it meaning to be a paper world like making a paper aeroplane our of Mario to progress, the combat is brilliant, in that it's not just click a button in a list but also interesting with the fights to get better damage or take less.

Donkey Kong Country Jungle Beat.
The best platformer on the GC bar none. The controls actually worked really well and the level design and everything was top notch. Great game.

Animal Crossing.
I think this is the 2nd best in the series. I have to say I adored this back on Cube, pit in a hell of a lot of time. It was so different to anything else I had played and felt so fresh at the time.

Eternal Darkness.
What do I say about this? It was great, i really enjoyed going through the different time periods and things you do in the past effect the future. Also the Insanity meter was amaze. How many other games does you characters head fall off and then a narrator starts reciting Shakespeare?

I will think of 2 more, just need to go look at my games.

So much variety in these lists, it's great to see. Despite having a rep for very few games in its time, it's clear that the GC had a hugely favourable "diamond-to-dud" ratio compared with, well, most consoles. And that variety of top games is showing up in the lists - it's a different console to different fans. For Diabolito for example, he's got two Capcom games on there and a Mario sports game that aren't even part of my 'Cube memories landscape. There are those who'll love it for the Resis, for its amazing local multiplayer lineup, for its top tier list of first party games, for its JRPGs, for its oddities (Doshin, Odama, Dancing Mario, Bongo games), for it being the last home of the Metroid Prime games or the adult Ninty sports games or F-Zero... its legacy as a truly multi-faceted, versatile gaming console is greater than anyone would have expected given the naysayers during its actual lifespan. And that, as someone who defended its merits fiercely back in the day, can only make me smile.

Starting to wonder if I should have added Battalion Wars to my list, that game was pretty good. :toot:

On second thoughts, probably not. Maybe if I were making a Top 20, but I think my Top 10 is pretty much set now.

There were plenty of crap games released on GC and if you are being really honest the lineup does hold up to what PS2 got, there are people in the (top 10) Xbox game topic claiming that had an amazing lineup too.

Don't get me wrong, it is host to a number of amazing games you can't get anywhere else...I'm just not as sure its quite as special in comparison to other consoles as some of you seem to think.

There's not really been a major console that hasn't had 20-30 great games released over its lifetime since the Saturn (and I'm sure some would make an argument for that too).

It's not that Gamecube didn't have lots of great games released for it, its more that its not alone in that achievement.

The Saturn was a decent console with a great lineup of games, Sega just couldn't compete with Sony's massive marketing campaign for the PS1 (the disastrous failures of the Mega CD and 32X didn't help much either).

10 Great Saturn Games
Panzer Dragoon Zwei
NiGHTS
Athlete Kings
Virtua Fighter 2
Sega Rally
Burning Rangers
Fighters Megamix
Fighting Vipers
Saturn Bomberman
Guardian Heroes

Not saying it didn't have any great games, just that I don't think it can compete with just about any other console that has come since in terms of variety and amount of great games available for it.

Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (admittedly I played this on Wii but I'm still counting it as GameCube game)
Resident Evil 4
Eternal Darkness
Luigi's Mansion
Super Mario Sunshine
Mario Kart Double Dash
Metroid Prime
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes

Lots of love for Twin Snakes here. At the time it seemed to get no end of stick for being a terrible port. I didn't buy it for that reason.

It's not a port, it's a remake

Some fans hate on it for the gameplay changes making it a lot easier and the cutscenes/dialogue being redone and changed. It is easier but it plays great (it's the MGS2 engine after all) and the ridiculous new action man snake cutscenes are brilliant. Also there are a few /really/ appreciated tweaks like not having to traipse back to warm up/cool down the keycard.

Well worth playing imo

Twin Snakes is a terrible port?

Them's fighting words. Wrong on both fronts, first it's not terrible far from it secondly it's not a port it's a full remake like Resident Evil on GameCube was.
