Previous GRecommends threads

This month we’re looking for the top 10 games for Sony's first foray into the handheld market, the PSP.

Image

If you need a reminder, here’s a list of PSP games

Just list your top 10 below (each counts for one vote, so ranking them isn't important).

Voting is open for a month, and will close on 3 March.

As always, I look forward to seeing your nominations.

Ridge Racer 2
Gitaroo Man Lives!
Initial D Street Stage
Wipeout Pure
Motorstorm Arctic Edge
God of War: Chains of Olympus
God of War: Ghosts of Sparta
Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower
Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast
Burnout Legends

The psp was a rare thing, a handheld with a rock solid racing library.

My 2nd favourite console of all time and only in 2nd place as most of its games are playable on the Vita.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
Valkyria Chronicles 2
Disgaea 2
Burnout Legends
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together
PIXELJUNK Monsters Deluxe
Pac Man Championship Edition
Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast
Lumines

Damn that's some list, must be well over 1,000 hours between them. I'd have probably stuck Jeanne D'Arc in there if I'd ever been able to find a copy as that is supposedly fantastic.

This ones gonna be tough - it's possibly my favourite console of all time.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure
Daxter
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Star Wars Battlefront II
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Loco Roco 2
Pursuit Force
Patchwork Heroes
Resistance: Retribution

Kept to one from each series, otherwise I would have panicked over including Monster Hunter Freedom, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, MGS: Portable Ops+, and Star Wars Battlefront Elite Squadron/Renegade Squadron.

God Of War Ghost of Sparta
God Of War Chains of Olympus
Wipeout Pure
Wipeout Pulse
LocoRoco 2
Patapon
Killzone Liberation
Ridge Racer
Outrun 2006
Motorstorm Arctic Edge

The PSP had an amazing line-up of racing game, yet I hated that strawberry floating nub thing. I played most of the games on that list years after the fact on the PS Vita. I'd probably have loved the machine a lot more if I was into RPGs and/or Monster Hunter.

Best handheld ever

  • LocoRoco
  • Wipeout Pure
  • Everybody's Golf 2
  • Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast
  • Patapon
  • Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
  • Field Commander
  • Jeanne D'arc
  • Persona 3
  • Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles

So many awesome games.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
God Of War Ghost of Sparta
God Of War Chains of Olympus
Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker
Burnout Legends
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Valkirya Chronicles II
LocoRoco

Hardest one yet to pick 10. Probably going to edit this one a lot! Wipeout Pure cruelly left out for now.

Fun fact, my save file name in this was the first time I ever used "OrangeRakoon" :toot:

Lack of Daxter votes so far is upsetting - it's like making a Vita list and not including Tearaway :(

I played it and liked it quite a bit but platformers are not really my favourite genre so it was never going to make my top 10. The love for Burnout Legends is surprising though, I picked that game up with my PSP and I'm sure I was still playing it when I got my Vita. That crash mode

Everyone so far should be automatically invalidated for not including Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins on their lists.

I had the Japanese version of the game (the original version) and it was amazing. Probably the best portable 2D action game ever made.

In no particular order,

Lumines 2
Loco Roco
Patapon
God of War: Ghost of Sparta
Motorstorm: Arctic Edge
Jeanne D'arc
Tekken 5
Killzone: Liberation
Daxter
GTA: Vice City Stories

Hard to narrow it down to 10 as bubbling under you have the other GTA, 2 Wipeouts, 2 Ridge Racers, 2 Syphon Filters (admittedly only one of which I played), the Pursuit Force games, the other Loco Roco, the other God of War.... wow when you stop and think about it PSP had a great library.

It's one of the few tactics games I've ever really enjoyed and the only one I've finished.
