Strategy rather neatly splits between real time and turn based though. So if you have Fire Emblem under a general strategy heading its in a sub genre of a subgenre.

Whereas RPGs don't split like that. I mean in reality its part of both genres, but for me it makes more sense to look at it under RPG because it can be classified as a direct subgenre

Haven't played much of it, I've literally got to a town after being booted out of your home town.

Okay... I may edit this before the deadline!

1) Fallout 3
2) Final Fantasy XIV
3) The Elder Scrolls Online
4) Fallout: New Vegas
5) Fallout 4
6) Dragon Age: Origins
7) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
8) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
9) Fire Emblem: Fates
10) Xenoblade Chronicles X

I'm not sure if FF XIV and Elder Scrolls Online would count? If so, they would be near the top of my selection list. I know that they are MMO RPGs...

EDIT: After re-reading Celer's opening post, I think they do count - so I've added them in :toot: .

Before I submit my list, is Zelda not considered an RPG? Or are there just not many Zelda fans who've posted in here yet

You could argue that it's an "Action" RPG I guess. The combat and the fact that there's little or no way to customise Link, means that I'd say it's more an action adventure than anything else.

I thought the same, then I saw others posting Fable 2 which admittedly I've not played in a while but from memory I'd say the gameplay has more in common with Zelda than, say, Final Fantasy. Saying that I suppose Fable has the the customisation and levelling aspects which Zelda lacks.

On the basis that Zelda is not an RPG (And that at some point we'll get a separate action/adventure game I can fill with titles in the Zelda series!) I'll go with my list as follows...

Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Pokemon Red/Blue
Pokemon Gold/Silver
Fallout 3
Fallout New Vegas
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Paper Mario
Paper Mario: TTYD
Fable 2

This is in no particular order and damn was it hard to get it to only 10 (D4 and Golden Sun have been swapped over 3 times already).

Paper Mario TTYD
Planescape Torment
The Witcher 3
Dungeon Master
System Shock 2
TES: Morrowind
Deus Ex
Shining Force 2The World Ends With You
Disgaea 4
Tales of Symphonia

Other notable ones that missed out - far too many to mention but some that were very close include Shining Force 2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Mega Man Battle Network, Rings of Power, Baldurs Gate 2, Ultima 7, Times of Lore, LOTRO, Persona 4, Ni No Kuni, Golden Sun. Also note, never played a Pokemon game.

In no particular order.

Chrono Trigger
Xenoblade Chronicles
Fallout 3
Fallout 3 NV
Pokemon ORAS
Grandia
FFVII
Bowser's Inside Story
Dark Souls
Etrian Odyssey IV

Chrono Trigger is my favourite, probably.

Nearly went with one of the Mario Golf games too, god they were good. The full-blown console versions should have had the RPG modes, fantastic.

The most disappointing thing about the recent Mario Tennis game on 3DS was the complete lack of an RPG story mode.

I would have been all over that, the GBC game is amazing. The GBA game isn't quite so good but it's still great.
