Interesting because it makes me realise the exact opposite. Not that those games aren't good, but the fact that stuff like that turns up in anyone's top 10 just goes to show how thin on the ground the real top quality titles were on Wii.

Its arguable that Wii U has the better software lineup.

Have you gone completely mental!? I have about four WiiU games worth keeping versus about 20 on the Wii. All personal taste in the end. In my choice I didn't e ven consider the variety of great download only indies the WiiU had, something completely missing from the WiiU. I maintain, that if Switch is a success, then WiiU will come to be seen not as an abject failure but as a stepping stone. Nintendo, I think, given that they hold all the cards, understood this only too well and that is why it is has been so poorly supported. Still, if you can put together a list of 20 WiiU games worth playing, which is an absolute piece of piss to do with the Wii, then good luck!

Like I said personally although I did manage it there seems to be quite a lot of filler in some of these top 10's for Wii, let alone a top 20.

As for 20 games worth playing on Wii U, that's easy...

1. Super Mario 3D World
2. Super Mario Maker
3. New Super Mario Bros U
4. Mario Kart 8
5. Splatoon
6. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
7. The Wonderful 101
8. Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush
9. Bayonetta 2
10. Pikmin 3
11. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
12. Bayonetta
13. Zombi U
14. Xenoblade Chronicles X
15. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
16. Lego City Undercover
17. Paper Mario Color Splash
18. Rayman Legends
19. Star Fox Zero
20. New Super Luigi U

And not a Zelda (or Donkey Kong Country) amongst them.

EDIT - Just to be clear I'm not 100% sure on that order, but those are all worth playing

Wii Sports
RE4
SMG1
SMG2
Zack & Wiki
Xenoblade Chronicles
Little King's Story
Monster Hunter Tri
Endless Ocean
Metroid Prime Trilogy

Honourable mention to Excite Truck - it wasn't that great but it was a lot of fun and it had custom soundtracks off an SD card which blew my mind at the time. And the countdown on starting a race synced perfectly with Burn Baby Burn by Ash.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
2. Resident Evil 4

4. The Last Story
5. Super Mario Galaxy
6. Klonoa
7. House of the Dead: Overkill
8. Dokapon Kingdom
9. Medal of Honor Heroes 2
10. LostWinds

Had to skip over Twilight Princess despite really liking it, it's probably better suited under GC games anyway!

Mario Galaxy
Mario Galaxy 2
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Twilight Princess
Okami
Bully
Rayman Origins
Wario Land: Shake It
Mario Kart Wii (Worst Mario Kart but still makes the list)

Outside of a handful of really exceptional games there's not much I'm interested in revisiting. My Wii was mainly used for playing GC games tbh.

Despite previously owning a Wii for several years it was kind of my third place system behind PS3 and 360 and I mostly used it to play GameCube games so I'm sure a lot of the better games passed me by and as such I'm not sure I could think of 10 games that I really enjoyed but I'll try...

Metroid Prime 3
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Xenoblade Chronicles
Boom Blox
No More Heroes
Mario Kart Wii
Twilight Princess
Warioware
Wii Sports

No love for Fire Emblem then?

Nintendo clearly failed with their marketing of it as it's such a great game yet hardly anyone played it.

Wasn't it hellishly difficult to get hold of? I didn't play it but that might have been because I see FE games as being a handheld sort of thing.

The limited print run didn't help matters either.

I just find it baffling that a good game can get such a pathetic launch yet throwaway tosh like Wii Fit got a huge marketing campaign and almost universal praise, especially given Nintendo's sluggish release schedule for first party games.

Honestly I can't believe Nintendo remain in business when they treat 'core' gamers like gooseberry fool.

I think the fact Wii Fit sold over 20 million copies probably suggests Nintendo picked the right horse to stick their advertising budget on.

Since a copy of Wii Sports came bundled with every Wii sold outside of Japan aren't its sales figures are a bit skewed surely?

I think I agree with H on this. The Wii U's library is small but strong. If I had to pick 20 from each i'd be leaning towards the U.

That's as maybe, but I can safely say that even if Nintendo had chucked enormous amounts of cash at Fire Emblem, it still wouldn't have sold anywhere near Wii Fit's numbers.
