I just find it baffling that a good game can get such a pathetic launch yet throwaway tosh like Wii Fit got a huge marketing campaign and almost universal praise, especially given Nintendo's sluggish release schedule for first party games.

Honestly I can't believe Nintendo remain in business when they treat 'core' gamers like gooseberry fool.

I think the fact Wii Fit sold over 20 million copies probably suggests Nintendo picked the right horse to stick their advertising budget on.

Since a copy of Wii Sports came bundled with every Wii sold outside of Japan aren't its sales figures are a bit skewed surely?

That's as maybe, but I can safely say that even if Nintendo had chucked enormous amounts of cash at Fire Emblem, it still wouldn't have sold anywhere near Wii Fit's numbers.

Yeah but if they bundled it with every Wii it would.

EDIT: Ignore me, I misread your original post and thought you were talking about Wii Sports :fp:

Such a good console! My personal top games are:

1) Wii Sports Resort
2) The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
3) Wii Party
4) Kirby's Adventure Wii
5) Rayman Origins
6) Geometry Wars: Galaxies
7) No More Heroes
8) The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return
9) Boom Blox
10) Tomena Sanner

I've not played enough of any other title for it to make my favourites; even stuff like Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Little King's Story, The Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles :-(. I have a hell of a backlog to enjoy, though :toot: .

Nintendo clearly failed with their marketing of it as it's such a great game yet hardly anyone played it.

I'm gutted I didn't grab it when it came out and now it's ridiculously priced.

I love Fire Emblem, but I couldn't get on with it on either GC or Wii. I'm not sure if they are just subpar examples of the franchise or it just doesn't suit how I play the game, but I think both those versions of the game are substantially worse than even the worst handheld version of Fire Emblem.

I enjoyed what I played of the GameCube games, though never did finish it. Tbh I've finished one at that was Awakening, which is probably my favourite.

I have the problem with the game where I don't want anyone to die, so if someone does I restart the battle. I should do a run with people dying being left dead.

I own Fire Emblem but it's not in my top 10 because I preferred other games more. Still a great game!

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn didn't even review as well as over fire emblem games at the time. It was panned for its story which is a fair criticism for a RPG. It also butchered the support system that was one of the best things about Path of Radiance of Gamecube.
The reason some people like Radiant Dawn a lot normally comes down to the gameplay (3 character classes means more chances to make broken builds). I also see people say they like the story because it's an epic in terms of genre but lets be honest it's another strawberry floating man vs god story that isn't even told that well. As a follow up to one of the best Fire Emblem games it is a bit disappointing to say the least when Path of Radiance planted the seeds so well.

I came into this process thinking the same, but coming up with a top 10 for the Wii has changed my mind. I tend to judge a console's line up on has it got good titles to choose from in a variety of genres. Looking at the games people have nominated, that seems definitely to be true for the Wii, but perhaps not so much for the Wii U. I guess we will be able to see when we do GRecommends for the Wii U.

The fact Radiant Dawn was positioned as a sequel to a game that many people didn't buy a copy of probably didn't do it any favours. It was my most played game on Wii (in terms of play time), but I couldn't tell you a thing about the characters or story now.

This is great, Celer - I always enjoy looking over a new GRecommends :toot: .

Thinking about the Wii, I do feel that it has become one of my favourite consoles. Personally I would have liked to have seen Wii Sports Resort in the chart but, hey, looking at those excellent games it is hard to complain :) .

I'm a bit disappointed one of the more niche titles, like Little King's Story, didn't sneak into the top 10. But it is to be expected, because not many people played those compared to Nintendo's big hitters.

The only one's I don't really rate are No More Heroes (a bit too much style over substance, in my view), and Wii Sports (but I can understand why many people like it).

Played, own and love all the ones that made the top 10 with the exception of No More Heroes which I've never tried, may have to pick up a copy!
