How are you finding it on Deck compared to desktop?

I played on deck and found it more fiddly and frustrating than mouse and keyboard. Not unplayable but I was always aware I was fighting the controls a bit, movement especially but having to flick right stick endlessly to highlight what I wanted became annoying.

Did you try the touch screen for mouse clicks?

I'll more than likely choose to replay it wholly on my PC rather than my Deck but curious to know how people found it tech-wise.

I found playing on the Deck fine after a couple of hours adjusting from k+m on desktop. What I could not manage was switching back and forth, so I eventually just started using my 360 pad when on desktop. The one advantage controller has over k+m is the direct analogue control over movement, rather than the auto path finding of mouse clicks. Meant when a thought popped up in that circle over Harry's head, it was easier to just stop moving and select it, rather than having to cancel the walk command by clicking elsewhere before you auto move outside the zone to trigger it.

Does fast travel work in this? Or am I just doing something wrong?

Approaching the end of day 3 now, it’s really getting its hooks into me now!

Decided not to let the youths turn the church into a drug den. Didn’t even try and get the signatures so Everet could build a ‘youth’ centre. Helped a cryptozoologist not find a bug, but did get a piece of that armour after missing out on the shoes :( Also delved into the radio computers, also heard about ‘the Pale’ on the evening of day 2, that sounds like it’ll consume Revachol soon enough :(

Found my badge too :toot:

You can only fast travel to like three places and only if you own the map and something isn't blocked for story reasons.

Kind of stumbled upon it myself but thanks, I bought the map on day 2, seems like you need to be stood in front of one of the places to fast travel to the others, which is odd.

Oh yes that too!

Yes fast travel is weird in this game.

Just one more thing I need to do on day 3, see someone at 9pm near an apartment……. Is there any downsides to using the free lodgings rather than paying 20 real for a night in the hostel?

Absolutely no downside.

Thats good, although a pair of shoes I've found seems to imply it helps me find more money, subsequently I've found about 40 real on day 3 compared to about 20 real on day 2. I'll opt for the free lodging after night 3 then, already paid up for that so no point in wasting it.

I once had game over as I had no where to sleep. Which was annoying as I had embraced “hobocop” lifestyle but the game was like “nah you still need somewhere”.

My recent play through I went out of my way to try and avoid the mystery of the amnesia, denial is the safest way, made the prank call all the more confusing.

I was a car wreck of a human and pretty terrible cop no wonder my wife left me, and adding the salt to the wound that she was pregnant with someone else’s kid

I know there is no canon ending but it’s tragic story all around no matter what.

It does seem like a very tragic story for the main character (which fits his personality anyway, even if there isn't a canon version of HDB ), to go with the very bleak world they've created. The music is also amazing in parts.

For how good the game is though, performance is really poor on the Switch, just had what must be my 4th or 5th crash now.

The Riff that plays as you enter / exit the whirling in rags gets me every time

Thats one of the ones I was thinking of, really neat tune

Edit, had a bit of time to kill on day 3 evening so went back to the church,

Turns out I needed to her to cooperate with the ravers to make a club (no drugs I told them though), then got the super crowbar to go and break into the ice cream maker that still hasn't defrosted, I did not pass the 17% check so will need to wait a little longer for it to melt!

Sea Power is the band that wrote the music. Well worth checking out if you like the DE soundtrack. And the soundtrack album is also on Spotify.

Might start my 4th play tomorrow. We'll see

Started my playthrough this morning and went with a physical build. Lowered Motorics by 1 point to buff Psyche slightly. Making choices based on what I think my father would do so I'm playing as a proper horrible bastard. Blanked Kim on our first meeting and refused the hand shake.

Also playing on Hardcore mode so checks are really difficult. But I somehow managed to shoot the body out of the tree. In just an hour and a half, I've already discovered new details (Lena gave me a pin to pawn after I asked for money, for example) and I've already found two brand new thoughts to internalize. Hobocop and Aces High. I've internalised Aces High, even though it feels like something my Dad (a horrible racist) would brush off, just because it's something I haven't seen before and want to see what bonuses it provides. And this is my 4th time playing!

Again, I'm just completely transported by the writing in this game. It's outstanding. There's nothing else like it. Every sentence is utterly sublime and just melts into my brain in a way that makes me feel nothing but adoration and awe. The narrator has an absolutely perfect voice for it as well.

This game is real lightning in a bottle.

With kb+m, you can still use WASD to move around, if you prefer that to clicking.

I don't think I even clocked that was a thing.
