Weeeeeeeeeelllllll, it's that time again, another GRplayde is about to begin. The game is Disco Elysium and can be purchased on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. It's an RPG where dialogue and choices matter

Steam Store Page wrote:Disco Elysium - The Final Cut is a groundbreaking role playing game. You’re a detective with a unique skill system at your disposal and a whole city to carve your path across. Interrogate unforgettable characters, crack murders or take bribes. Become a hero or an absolute disaster of a human being.

With many people voting for this game we should have a good whack of people taking part and chatting about the game. Spoilers will be in effect for the playthrough as it's most peoples first time and there's still surprises for those who've played through before. Play the game at your own pace and pop into the chat to keep us updating with your playthrough when you can, there's no rush to finish the game and we aren't getting to certain points in the game before chatting about it. Just play it as you see fit. I'll be playing it twice a week and streaming it on http://www.twitch.tv/grcadeuk

Spoilers would be best framed like this explame by the sexy Site23:

site23 wrote:I think it's perfectly possible as long as people write their spoilers out considerately, like e.g. (this is a genuine but very mild spoiler for Disco Elysium):

Day 3, west side of map
Can't believe how much there is to see across the bridge, it's like the game just doubled in size! Being immediately greeted with the crashed car was so funny too.

I think the techniques to use are: 1. vague description at the start, 2. write the rest of what you want to say in a spoiler box, 3. use inline spoiler tags inside the spoiler box to cover particular details like the punchlines to jokes or the answers to mysteries.

That sounds like a lot but it's really not once you get into the habit of it. I try to do this anyway and it's not that much effort.

We'll be starting on February the 1st, so you more people have time to sign up :)

Here's the people playing and let's see how we all get along:

I have been meaning to start a 4th play of this but whether I take part or not will really depend on where I am with my currently playing list come February!

I hope anyone playing for the first time enjoys it as much as I did!

Hot tip - Do not worry about failure or trying to make "correct" choices. Do not "save scum". Let the story unfold and events take their course. Enjoy the journey, good or bad.

Failing rolls absolutely leads to some amazing outcomes. There's at least one roll fail I'm aware of that I'm super keen to try and get this time round.

Is the ending broadly the same regardless of how you get there? Or is there a lot of endings?

I want my next playthrough to be different, not the same despite my best efforts.

You say this but I felt like the dice rolls are much harsher and failing rolls feels so much worse than in say, BG3.

I've attempted a playthrough twice and fell off after 6 hours both times (didn't hate it but it's like a novel, I have to work up willpower to sit down with it and just never did). I really really hated spec ing my character a certain way, failing his near-certain ability check and then having gooseberry fool stats in the things I need to get past a certain situation (eg failed a 90% persuasion check to get in a building. I put my points into persuasion so I have gooseberry fool physical ability to climb through the window, and I have gooseberry fool perception to notice another way in).

And that feels so strawberry floating shiiiiiit. I think I will be save scumming those situations to keep me playing.
