PostThe Twitch Thread - GRcade is Twitching or maybe YouTubing

Cheeky Devlin wrote:Hey guys.

Just a few things I want to bring up and talk about.

1. The Schedule

Ok so this is the current schedule. I've taken out streams that either never happened (Rock Band) or have seemingly stopped (Smash Bros). The Are You A Master Mario Maker streams will be ending in the next few weeks as well so I've marked them in red.

Can everyone look at this and let me know if you have any problems sticking to this schedule.

In addition can Qikz and Chaos let me know what times they want to take so that we can have scheduled Starcraft and Hearthstone slots.

The Schedule
Monday:
7.45pm to 8.45pm - Pedz Retro Hour
9pm to 10.30 - Pedz (Mario Kart Monday LIVE!)

Tuesday:
9pm to 10pm - Cheeky Devlin (Super Mario Maker)
10pm to 11.30pm - Pedz/Dragon (Star Wars Battlefront)

Wednesday:
9pm to 10.30 - Pedz (Splatterfest Wednesday LIVE)

Thursday:
10pm to 11pm - Cheeky Devlin (Super Mario Maker)

Friday:
8pm to 9pm - Kinopio (PS4 Fun and Frolics)
9pm to 10.30pm - Dragon (Mario Kart: Fast Friday LIVE)

Saturday:
Dec 6th Onwards - 9pm to 10pm - Cheeky Devlin (Are You A Master Mario Maker - Results)

Sunday:
4pm to 6pm - Errkal's Lazy Sunday (Mixed PC Games)
8pm - Captian Kinopio (Super Sundays)
10pm - Cheeky Devlin (Are You A Master Mario Maker - Showcase)

2. Non-Twitch Content
Going forward I'm looking at continuing my weeknight Mario Maker streams for the time being, but I'm beginning to look more at other forms of content that we can populate Youtube with. I think we've got the streaming fairly well established with enough people who know what they're doing with it. I will continue to stream as well, but my focus will be more on Youtube content.

Initially I'm thinking a live Podcast thingy once a week/fortnight (Prob Saturdays) where I'll host and we get a few of us together to discuss whatever gooseberry fool has went on during the week. But I'm still figuring out format, details and stuff. I'll talk more about this once there's more to say.

3. Twitch Guidelines
I've been in touch with Gecko about this and I'm just waiting to hear back from him on it. Basically I'm looking to have a set of basic guidelines for streaming to the GRcade channel, with the aim of creating some consistency across the breadth of content we produce. There's nothing horrible or draconian in them (I won't force you to use an overlay ) and I'll be submitting them for discussion once Gecko has weighed in, but as more people start to take part I think we need to have some groundrules.

That's it really.

I think we've gotten off to a good start these past couple of months and settled into a nice rhythm. Now we just need to consolidate that and look to what's coming next. Now obviously we need to keep the schedule fresh. The more new games we can stream as and when they come out the better so if there's anything on the horizon that you want to do on stream just say so and we can work out when to slot that in.

Thanks guys!

Cheeky Devlin wrote:Hi guys. Well I've been liasing with Gecko and he's signed off on the following guidelines.

Going forward we ask that anyone streaming to the GRcade channel adheres to these.

Twitch Guidelines
When streaming to the GRcade Twitch channel we ask that you follow the guidelines below.

- GRcade Logo & Branding

Your stream should include the GRcade logo at a minimum. This can be integrated into an overlay or positioned in one of the corners as either a full image or a semi-transparent watermark. The logo should be either the standard, non-reflective logo*, or in the case of specific streams (E.g Mario Maker) it can be a special logo.

- Voice
You should talk as part of your stream. This can be commentary on the game, interaction with viewers or whatever you like. Please do not be silent.
For multiplayer based streams (Mario Kart, Battlefront, Driveclub etc) you don't need to be commentating on the gameplay as long as there is voice chat between the participants (Mumble, Party Chat etc). Where possible include a mumble overlay so viewers know who is speaking.

- Intro/Outro
You should introduce yourself and the forum on the stream.
At the end of each stream you should thank the viewers for joining in and let them know what is coming up over the next couple of days.

- Unscheduled Streams
There are plenty of occassions where you may wish to stream when nothing else is scheduled. This is absolutely fine, and is indeed encouraged. In these cases you should announce the stream in the general Twitch Thread. Scheduled streams take priority however. You should have ended your own stream at least five minutes prior to the start of the next scheduled stream to allow the streamer time to update Twitch.

- Console Streams
These are exempt from the Logo & Branding guidelines as there is currently no way to include overlay images on console generated streams. All other guidelines should be adhered to.

*
Use this one.

Not this one.

Image
The forum REALLY doesn't like PNG transparencies for some reason. :?

If there's anything there that you disagree with, or anything you think we're missing can you let me know in the thread and we can discuss any amendments you would all like to make.

In addition I will be looking at chatbot options over the course of the next week or so with an eye to implement one before the Mario Maker final next Saturday.

Finally, Herbi/Kinopio has been made an Editor of the Twitch channel and is now able to Host/Unhost himself. Can we all get in the habit of checking that there are no hosted streams on the channel before we begin our own. Remember and type /unhost into the chat to stop it if there is.

Thanks Guys!

EDIT: Oh and I'll be revamping the OP in the next couple of days with up to date schedule stuff, guidelines and other bits of information.

Surprised there's not a thread for this already.

In case you haven't noticed me spamming the forum the Survivor Sunday crew (chalky, Peter Crisp and bandwagon) our currently broadcasting ourselves on twitch so tune in.

Does anyone here do this regularly? I've done it once or twice for a little while and have found it fun but am not sure if it's worth persevering with as I have no idea how you would go about getting a decent amount of followers.

Will probably stick with doing it on Sunday evenings for a little while and see if I can get above a dozen followers.

Anyone on GRcade have any suggestions to make an enjoyable stream, or come to think of it anybody watch certain streams regularly?

The only people I watch live are the GameTrailers crew as they have a semi-decent schedule and I know the personalities now. Not sure what would make a random gamer playing compelling unless it was for a game you don't have but we're interested in, or you were looking to learn some skills.

Anyway rambling aside, tune in above and let me know what you think. Schedule tonight is The Last of Us for the next half hour then Driveclub before Rocket League at 11

We're blowing up on Twitter.

Almost smashed into multiple figures at several points tonight, will definitely look to make Sunday broadcasts a regular thing. Think we had a few GRcaders watching so would be good for some impressions.

Immense night

Edit: He did actually retweet that if its not clear (Driveclub Game Director for anyone wondering)

How about when you are going to broadcast you pop the time and game in the thread title.Should help people know when the stream is on.

I liked how you were winning that car football game and then there was a last minute equaliser and a golden goal from the other team!

Rocket League was very entertaining to watch.

Reminded me of a 3D version of Haxball.

Cheers for the comments guys.

I changed the settings on my twitch account so it'll record my broadcasts. Will be good to look back over them as there were a lot of crazy moments last night.

Outside of the broadcast last night I'm a little surprised no one has anything else to add about twitch. I figured there might be some people on here who use it regularly themselves.

I hate the idea of watching other people play games, but it might be fun to watch you guys.

How does Twitch work? Is it just like Youtube but for watching the live streaming of games?

Yep , download the app on your tablet or phone or go on the website and then choose a game . You can also just look for users channels .

I don't really use it for just watching people play games either as I'd rather be playing them, so I guess it's a bit weird asking people to tune into us on Sunday's, though hopefully there's some humour in the familiarity of us. Plus you can laugh at chalky being gooseberry fool at everything.

Having said I don't watch it for the games it's good for stuff like Evo which is coming up and researching some other play styles. I do occasionally just watch some GT play throughs of random games because I'm familiar with them now and they can be pretty funny. I'll also watch some of the charity stuff that goes on there or speed runs like that Donkey Kong thing not so long ago.

I guess the other thing I'd check it for would be sampling a game before I might buy it. I've got a beta key for the Rainbow Six Siege beta in September so I'll definitely look to broadcast some of that to show off the game.

PostRe: GRplayde with Twitch: Super Sunday 7pm
by Captain Kinopio » Sat Jul 18, 2015 1:37 pm

We will be back online tomorrow evening so if you need a break from Evo or have a second screen tune into us or join us for some games, I'm sure we'll be talking about Evo and everything else anyway

The schedule remains the same as last week:

7pm Survivor Sunday (The Last of Us) - 4/6/7 or 8 players, public matches if we just have The A Team, private if we get 6 of us or more. A mix of Supply Raid, Survivors and maybe a cluster strawberry float on interrogation to finish.

9pm Driveclub Domingo - 6 players, we move straight onto this from The Last of Us and continue to dominate with No Buffalols, a mix of everything the game has to offer

11pm - Rocking Late with Rocket League - 8 Players, hopefully everyone from Driveclub will stick through for the mayhem at the end of the night so there will be at least a couple of slots open for 4v4 games. It's amazing.

Last week was great fun, watch us tomorrow, it's all Twitter is talking about :datass:
