Judging by the ending of Mass Effect 3, there were definately tits involved in the writing.

The large proportion of female writers are very evident in Dragon Age.

It is the art team you need to be concerned about. If one is not strict with them their imagination can run wild.

I just think some times when someone produces a sequel they feel they have to do 'more' everything. Faster, bigger, flashier and, yes, 'sexier'.

So, Laralyn McWilliams just posted this on twitter a journalist contacts a female game dev (and friend of Laralyn) to try and get information about a game in development. Both names are hidden because the dev in question is scared of reprisal. Note, they have no relationship beyond briefly meeting at an event or two.

As per usual, she doesn't seem to be able to grasp the tone of some games.

But I do agree with her general point.

For example. Yes GTA5 is pretty sexist, but it's also meant to be a satire of American media/American life.

And her examples about being able to kill or hit women in the game and get money when they die.
You can do that to any character in the game.

I can't believe people gave her so much money. Surely there are people who could have done a better job than she has done?

And again, I know this series isn't about men, but she says "They're expendable, meant to be used and then tossed out"
What you mean like every single enemy in a game? 90% of which are men who you kill without a second thought?

There is a counter-argument that if someone was going to shoot up a school they'd bring a gun whether it was legal or not, and therefore the possibility of having to face an unknown number of equally armed people in response is meant to act as a deterrent; however that's a debate for another thread.

However the main thing that gets me with this turn of events is that it's quite likely to just be some cocklord on the internet talking big with a keyboard because he hates women/is forever alone/is stupid, however we will never know. But, like any bully, they know that this sort of thing gets a reaction - in this case a big, twittumblr grandiose one with lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth which, to use an antiquated internet term, is full of lulz for those so inclined.
