HM wrote:But to say Vice City was too small or dull is just wrong. Far superior music, far superior characters and far superior story (bar the awful Driver mission :x :x :x :x :x ). The worst part about SA was the boring countryside, eurgh.

Strongly disagree with all that, particularly the first one, but opinions and all that. The actual gameplay in SA was much better than SA, though.

From the man who constantly brings up five-year old incidents and bothers to check post counts.

Please can we stay on topic. I would hate for this to be locked before the last Retrospective comes out!

God yes. I still remember seeing that trailer at school and being absolutely blown away by it. Even now it's a fantastic trailer.

Aye wasn't that trailer used as the the TV ad as well? I've still got my free San Andreas bandana from Game as a preorder bonus. Remember picking it up after college and seeing tons of folk in the town centre wearing them

This video

Goddamn, Vice City was small. I do love the vibe of VC, but SA is a better game in almost every way.

VC is still my favourite.

Its not the best game, but the atmosphere, music and characters are spot on.

Size doesn't matter - it's what you do with it. :shifty:

Vice City for me is still the most enjoyable of all the GTA games. I don't see why people are getting so worked up about personal preferences.

I just like stabbing folk with screwdrivers.

Reminds me of growing up on the estate.

HM wrote:I still remember like at least a 100 random funny moments I had in Vice City. SA I can't even remember the main characters name or any of the story. Absolute boring "from da hood" shite.

But the vast majority of the game wasn't "from da hood shite", was it?

EDIT: oh, you didn't properly play the game, never mind.

HM wrote:You can't deny that for the first few islands it was boring "da hood" gooseberry fool though. Only got crazy when you got to "Vegas" from what my friends told me.

Nope, it got crazy before that. Last few missions of the first islands onwards. And I didn't find the hood stuff boring at all, it was a refreshing change and something that hadn't really been explored in a game before. It's interesting how many people had a problem with the hood setting and characters.

Yeah, I liked the hood setting, particularly because of the era it was set in. Funnily enough I remember more about SA's story than Vice City's, and thought it was better because of being so bonkers.

SA/GTA4 draw for my favourite.
