Hey guys, it's that time of the year again! For those not in the know, the GTASC (Great True Achievements Score Challenge) is an Xbox Achievements based scoring competition run by TrueAchievements. Teams compete to survive each week by unlocking enough achievements to survive the cut-off. The competition has been represented by a team from GRcade for the last four years, hopefully this time we'll make it five!

The big change this year is that we'll be competing in teams of TWO. This will hopefully allow us to send two or maybe even more teams into the competition. This should make things even more competitive, and should definitely lead to some entertaining competition.

If you want to compete, you'll need to have been registered on TrueAchievements for at least six months (I think that's most people here) and have a GamerScore over 20,000 (that's definitely everyone here). If you're interested, you'll want to register here, but also post in the thread so we can sort some teams out. :-)

Registered and willing to take part....been meaning to take part in one of these TA events for ages.

Obviously I am fairly new around these parts so will need a partner assigning as I am friendless.

Awesome, lovely to have you with us! Hopefully we'll get a few people interested and then I'll split us into teams. We're not mega competitive or anything, we usually last a few weeks before the scoring gets too tough!

Sent you a FR too, we can't have you being friendless. ;-)

Excellent stuff. While I would love to be competitive I envisage life being a problem but we will see how we get on.

It's that time of year again! I think i'll probably give this a go but if it's just pairs I might give it a go with my brother. He doesn't post here but I think he has an account so technically we could be seen as a GrCade team  . Would be good to have a few pairs from here for some friendly scoring competition.

That's cool man, you don't have to be a GRcade team but you should chat in the thread anyway for the competitive bants. :-)

Hey, sorry that wasn't a dig at you, I was just hoping to get a few teams competing this year. If it's just me and you it's all good, we'll smash it. :-)

Ha no was just a joke about lack interest.

I'd actually be a really good partner for two reasons, one I am sad enough to get a load of really high scoring achievements ready to unlock for when the competition kicks off. Two I only own a one because some idiot I played football with was selling his 1tb with what he advertised as 7 games for £150.... a steal in itself....he's not the brightest bless him, when I loaded it up it was more like 20 games. Between that the few games I've bought games with gold and backwards compatible I've got about 45 games on my hard drive and I'd say about 30 of them are untouched :D so I've got loads of quick ones I can unlock

Awesome, should get us off to a good start! Are you familiar with how GTASC works?

Yeah that's the gist of it. There are bonus challenges too, where you have to do things like score an exact amount of points or get achievements with high TA ratios. But basically the aim is just to get plenty of points.

One note of caution, if you're someone who likes to play the latest games, don't rinse them of achievements as quickly as you can. Because the scores of new games drop over time (as more people unlock those achievements) you can actually end up with negative scores. This is called ratio decay, and is something to be cautious of. :-)

So I'm clear you get a score for each week, at the end of that week it resets to zero? Surely you'd be looking to get enough to survive comfortably and that's about it in that case?

I'd normally play a lot of recent games but given the current release Calendar and the back log I've got a lot will be old.....tbh it's something to give me the motivation to get the likes of goat simulator done.

Pretty much, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. I was knocked out of the solo competition last year despite having tons of points in reserve.

I've submitted my pair with my brother. We're 'Prestige Worldwide'. Would be nice to have a mini gr league if possible / there's enough pairs to justify it.
