Made it to Hades last night but have been less successful today. I've ditched the spear for the railgun as I can consistently get far with it. Artemis extra arrow is great, just wish I could get it more often. Sometimes the gods are against you and you get laden with crap :(

Almost got Hades beat, thought I'd done it then realised had to beat him again. Ffs. That 2nd phase is some serious bullshit. Got there with the spear and the Demeter health regen, which helped enormously on Thesus! Really thought I was gonna do it this time :(

Attempt 47 in 30mins 8-)

OK, so I've got the hang of this now, I've finally got gud! Spear with Zeus boon, doom and the purple fog really helped me (along with my mad skills ofc).

Started this just now, first attempt? Room 11…… Feels very polished though, looks great too. Going to try and hold off activating God Mode as I imagine if I turn that option on it probably won’t get switched off

Edit, run 2 and I tried the bow, got to the first boss (well I guess she is) called Meg or something, obviously got battered as I had about 10 health left  Got the Shield now though. Into my first run with the Shield and its a lot of fun bouncing the shield off an enemy, got a hammer upgrade at the start that makes my next 2 attacks more powerful when I hit an enemy with my special too.

Edit 3, got to Meg a lot quicker with the Shield, still got beat but got her down to about half health which was a lot better than before! Reckon I’ll give it a few more runs before seeing how God Mode might improve my chances, guess Meg is the first boss of many too.

Last edit for now, beat Meg on my 4th (I think) run, very close near the end as I had about 5 health left :dread: so probably won’t get much further on this run!

Sounds like you're making steady progress, I wouldn't go to god mode yet! Not a problem if you do of course, but overcoming the challenge is its own reward.

I got a couple of rooms further in before getting killed, just bought an upgrade that gives me 50% life back on my first death in a run which should definitely help. I did read into God Mode (not turned it on though, will try and ‘git gud’ first!), does it really give up to 80% damage reduction if you die enough? Obviously starts at 20% but that seems a little overkill really, although you would have to die 30 times I suppose  Reckon there is a fair bit of luck needed to have a good run about what temporary upgrades you get on a run, like on my 3rd run I got a hammer upgrade and a Zeus one that zaps nearby enemies after dashing which combined with the shield helped a lot but on my 4th they weren’t as good near the start.

There's a lot to learn about the game that will help you get further, as well and plenty of unlockable bonuses.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

There does seem a lot to figure out, in no rush though as I think this will probably be my main focus on Switch for a couple of weeks at least. Are many of the unlocks permanent? Or just the ones unlocked/upgraded by the purple keys and orb type things?

Yeah, Purple keys are the permanent upgrades. Look at the building contracts too when they get unlocked. A fair few of them make runs easier too!

As long as you're unlocking new stuff you're progressing!

After a while you will unlock the ability to revive more than once at lower health, instead of once at 50% and this is what really helped me start to make progress within the actual levels.

First thing I’m trying to do before spending to much on those upgrades is finding and using the keys to unlock all of the options, I’ve probably wasted a few already as I thought the life restored on entry to a new room would be more than literally one point of health :fp:

Don't worry too much about keys, you can get them all back and respec for a nominal fee at some point! I think I did that same thing with that upgrade though.

That’s good to know, hoping to get back on this for another run or two later depending how poor I do

Edit, got one run done, got about 5 or 6 rooms into the fire area, I’m not a fan of the fire area.

You can get darkness back but you can't get your keys back. Once you spend them they're locked in.

Oh sorry, been a while so I forgot the difference between darkness and keys!

Do you stop acquiring keys once you’ve unlocked all the weapons and permanent abilities to upgrade with darkness then? Not seen anything else that needs keys so far.

I just use them to swap for other items I need.

Like the gifts from the Gods? I swapped a bottle of Nectar with Cerberus and got a collar in return that boosts my heath, I think it does anyway.

Kind of. You can buy things from the vendor using x amount of keys. I usually trade up until I get nectars or the heart thingies.

Only vender I’ve seen in the starting area is the one in the bar, is that the same one?
