PostHalo 3: ODST - Why can't I record in theatre mode?
by Venom » Sun Sep 27, 2009 6:50 pm

I was playing Halo 3: ODST on Thursday, then went in to theatre mode so I could make a good action clip of my game performance to taunt a mate with. However the control panel only had 3 options; Take snapshot, Play/pause, End video. I thought it might be a memory problem but I'm using a 360 Elite with more than enough hdd space, my Bungie file shares take up way less space then the 20mb(?) maximum. I created a free slot on my Bungie file share, but for the life of me I can't work out why I don't have the record/rewind options. I even speculated that the feature has been removed but then it wouldn't make sense to have a theatre mode, and the ODST manual has a clear pic of the video control panel with rewind and record. Can somebody please tell me what the strawberry float I'm doing wrong because I've spent too long on this. Thanks.

If I remember correctly from Halo 3, you can't record clips of the Campaign, only the multiplayer - so, only in Firefight, unfortunately.

I've tried it with Firefight videos but there are no record or rewind options. I am totally baffled.

I looked on bungies site, and correct me if I'm wrong, but you gotta pay to be able to record videos and be able to upload them.

I'm pretty sure in halo 3 campaign you could only upload a single playthrough to your fileshare, but you couldn't cut a single part from it or edit it much. ODST probably works the same way, you'd have to save the entire mission.

Thats for the render to video service Bungie alow for Bungie Pro members. Basically a Halo 3 video is tiny in filesize because the game generates the code and plays the events back to you. A Bungie Pro subscriber can upload a clip to their fileshare and render it into proper .avi video format.
