New maps revealed!

neak peek at the 3rd and likely final set of Halo 3 maps, that look to ship exclusively with Halo 3:ODST (due 22/09/09). Don't forget, ODST will not only come with these, but a second disc containing the entirety of Halo 3 Multiplayer, including all released DLC maps.

Heretic returns players to familiar ground as the Halo 2 arena “Midship” makes its long-rumored debut in Halo 3. The stark interior of the Pious Inquisitor might appear austere on first glance, but Heretic’s symmetrical spaces require players to execute complex strategies in order to outplay their opponents.

Image

Citadel may be a long abandoned Forerunner stronghold, but its small, symmetrical confines are far from secure. Two opposing bases offer little safety for players looking for solace. Instead, Citadel forces small squads to stay in constant communication, keep their heads on a swivel, and be prepared to adjust combat tactics in close quarters.

Image

Longshore lacks the commercial ships that once made it a lucrative port for Old Mombasa, but it still bustles with activity. Designed for large scale combat and well suited for smaller affairs, Longshore’s multitude of industrial buildings, elevated walks, and open inlets conspire to create a complex battleground tailored for multiple combat scenarios.

Happy Bungie Day everyone! Loving the look of these - more purple 8-) Citadel seems to be based on the towers from the Covenant campaign level.

Has anyone had any good games in the Bungie vs the World playlist? Emperor and Colonnade are favourites of mine so far - I had a couple of great CTF games on them (1 flag and multi flag respectively).

It looks like we're giving them a bit of a pasting at the moment:

I've had a few games, next to no chance of playing Bungie but I did pick up the 'Save This Film' achievement on a team slayer match on that Emperor map :D I came so close to an extermination as well, I got an overkill in team slayer but the first guy must have respawned just before I killed the fourth guy.. :fp:

The new maps look great, Longshore has got my BTB trigger finger itching (hopefully some of the shocking Sandbox varients will be removed when that's added), I enjoyed some of the Bungie vs The World maps a lot, whilst some were a little shonkey but all in all the playlist was a great thing for Bungie to do for their community.

Also love the sound of the new video pro thingy, youtube is going to get swamped once it is released.

I totally do this thing called StreetPass UK and it's real good like.

Midship has been a long time coming. I wonder what tweaks they have made to it? King of the Hill matches FTW!

Me and some other guy were against a team of four in SWAT. We ended up losing 50 - 49 after we closed a huge gap and after many double and triple kills. Devastated. :(

Damn :( I hate it when teammates quit en masse but some of my best games have been my brother and I against 4 or 5. We don't always win them but they can be great fun. And obviously it's extra-special when you do win them.

Grifball weekend :) Shame it's on the Foundry map but apparently it's on a slightly different variant so I might give it a spin.

The Original Midship was tiny, not a fan at all. :fp:

HALO 2's Headlong should have been upgraded, it was my fave map for H2.

i loved headlong! it was the ultimate mix of vehicle and close-long range combat, and there was this awsome sniper place up on a building that could only be reached by a banshee  (if i remember right)

i also was not a fan of the original midship, i have quite a lot of problems being spawn killed on the larger maps as it is... so this level will be a death fest for me :|

Another vote here for Headlong. My (joint) favourite map from Halo 2. Why won't they let us have it in Halo 3?

It's pretty mind boggling they didn't just stick in mots of Halo 2 maps at launch - many of them were magnificent and played really well to the strengths of Halo combat. Sure, some tweaking might be required, but i'd have taken some tweaked H2 maps over the likes of Construct, Isolation and Epitaph any day of the week.

Construct is alright (obviously no Headlong) but I hate those other two. And strawberry floating Snowbound. :x

Finally got the 'Have Fun Respawning' achievement today to add to the 'Killtacular' one I got yesterday meaning I now have all Halo 3 achievements that are accessible until ODST is released.

Earlier on I had a grazy Grifball match in the double exp playlist that saw my pick up an extermination, 3 killtaculars, 3 killtrocitys and a killimanjaro.

Can you unlock the Killtacular achievement in Grifball?

you can if it's on the sandbox variant that appears every so often in Action Sack.

Action Sack is great, was playing it earlier. Got a game type in which only sticks count towards the score, was messy hectic fun.
