ODST belongs at the very end of any Halo rating list. It just felt like such a boring chore to get through.

I remember this quite vividly, this was recorded at some silly hour like 4am. I miss when we had all the time in the world to waste. :-(

I find it fascinating how much variety there is in people's rankings of the Halo games.

SP: CE = 3 > ODST > Reach > 4 > 2

I could interchange Reach and 4, I think Reach was probably better designed and had a consistent design philosophy, 4 had some great moments, but took a lot more effort to get enjoyment out of. I'm in the middle of a blog post about it actually, but I'm crazy busy lately so it might be a while before it's done.

MP: 3 > 2 > 1 > 4 > Reach.

It saddens me to the marrow that anyone who took part in the GRCade games would place the Reach multiplayer last.

Halo 4 Championships are on tonight at midnight on Xbox Live:-

The Halo 4 Global Championship takes place live from PAX at Benaroya Hall in Seattle and on Xbox LIVE this Sunday at 4PM PDT. This is an incredibly exciting event for the team, as we showcase eSports and Halo 4 with a very ambitious production both for the fans onsite and through our Xbox LIVE interactive broadcast.

In addition to the tournament itself, we’ll also have exclusive Xbox One content debuting during the show as well as music performances that celebrate the spirit of PAX in a special way. Personally, there’s one performer I can’t wait to see the audience embrace. It’s going to be fun.

The Xbox LIVE audience will also have a chance to choose the content of the show, voting live on the console for which new Xbox One trailers they want to see first.

Those were great times, the best I had on Reach.

But Reach started Halo on the downward spiral that it still hasn't recovered from. The addition of armour abilities and with it the removal of equal starts, the introduction of bloom - a bizarre dice roll every time you fire your rifle. Halo 3 was a finely tuned virtual sport, with consistency and predictability. Halo Reach stepped away from that (for no good reason), and Halo 4 despite having an excellent core gunplay experience pushed further away the simplicity that made Halo 2 and 3 so good.

For pure fun, Reach was great because of the creativity and shenanigans it allowed, but for what it did to Halo as a competitive, balanced game.. I can't forget that.

Reach multiplayer was the bee's knees. Always played with loads of community built stuff, some great stuff there. Halo 4's forge mode just hasn't seemed to see the same attention - probably down to a lack of the massive space that Reach had.
